What a weekend! 🔥
A huge thank-you to everyone who stopped by our booth at LightBox Expo 2025 and joined us for “Animating a 2D Character Rig Live” with Marie-Ève Lacelle and Bernard Boiteux.
It’s always such a pleasure to connect with fellow artists and industry professionals, to share ideas, and celebrate creativity together.

In A Glimmer in the Maw, two young mice (Meryl and Junebug) explore the ruins of an abandoned castle. One is full of pr***en bravado, while the other one is apprehensive from the very start. When they encounter a stray cat, the friends’ true colours emerge.
We caught up with Camren to discuss their new short film, how they grew as an artist, and the experience of a recent graduate joining the industry.

This week we're highlighting our conversation with Jam Filled Entertainment on the expressive 2D animation in Wylde Pak! 🎬
Wylde Pak is a new animated series created at Nickelodeon by Kyle Marshall and Paul Watling. The show follows a blended Korean-American family navigating life in the quirky fictional town of Canyon Valley, complete with eccentric neighbours, heartfelt moments, and plenty of laughs.
We spoke with two key members of the Jam Filled team: Jamie Gallant, one of the series' animation directors, and Kyle Vermette, head of 2D builds.

What could you animate in 24 hours?

The theme for this year's 24 Hours Animation Contest for Students will be announced live on Toon Boom Animation’s YouTube channel, Friday, October 3rd at 3 PM Pacific. This free event challenges students around the world to compete in teams of five to produce a 30-second animated film in just 24 hours.
Pete Docter is joining this year’s 24 HOURS contest as guest speaker for the contest kickoff livestream. Docter is the Oscar-winning director of Monsters, Inc., Up, and Inside Out and Chief Creative Officer at Pixar Animation Studios. He most recently directed Disney and Pixar’s Oscar-winning feature film Soul with producer Dana Murray and co-director Kemp Powers, which is now streaming on Disney+.
