Earth World is an artists’ collaborative founded by the composers and organists Adrian Foster and Joel Peters. Currently based in Montréal, the purpose of the collaborative is to create new works of art, commission new compositions, and inspire new literary pieces. The collaborative is organized around events which feature primarily minimalist and electroacoust

ic music. Each event also produces satellite projects. A satellite project allows for a flexible collaboration between artists of various disciplines. It relates either closely or broadly to the central event, creating a collaboration which allows one to inspire the other, and vice versa. For example, the ocean themed organ recital, titled “Organ Ocean – Waves of Sound”, saw the collaborative efforts of Peters and Toronto-based writer André Forget create a literary work titled “The Lower Registers.” This fantastical text plays with the idea of building organs under the ocean. The Earth World collaborative is new, but the collaboration between Peters and Foster is not. In 2014, after it had become known that each had organized their own concerts featuring electroacoustic music, they decided to organize a concert together. The result was In Nomine Lucis, a concert featuring electroacoustic music by Huw Morgan and Michael Bonaventure juxtaposed with a Mass by William Byrd, Scelsi’s In Nomine Lucis and a brand new composition for organ by Peters, culminating in Tavener’s glorious “Mother and Child.”

The next project was to compose electroacoustic music for a Vespers service at St. John’s Lutheran in collaboration with Pr. Eric Dyck. Since then Peters and Foster have produced and collaborated on a variety of projects, including Triptych (2017), Organ Ocean – Waves of Sound (2017), and Searching for Lalla (2017). To date, our current major collaborators include Amy Hillis (violinist), Christopher Murtagh (sound engineer), Kim Lynch (soprano), Pooja Sen (graphic designer), Pr. Eric Dyck (clergy), Gerald Ens (bass and theologian), Sara Taddio (marketing and philanthropy), André Forget (writer) and many gracious souls who have contributed their wonderful talents to the past projects.

Earth World est un collectif artistique fondé par les compositeurs et organistes Adrian Foster et Joel Peters. Présentement basé a Montréal, ce collectif a pour mission de créer de nouvelles œuvres d'art visuel, de commander de nouvelles compositions et d'inspirer de nouveaux textes littéraires. Le collectif organise des événements qui s’articulent avant tout autour d’une base musicale minimaliste et électroacoustique. Chaque événement lance aussi des projets satellites. Ces projets permettent une collaboration souple entre artistes de disciplines diverses. Le lien entre l’événement principal et l’événement satellite peut être étroit ou plus général, ce qui génère une collaboration où l’un peut inspirer l’autre, et vice versa. Par exemple, le récital d’orgue sur le thème de l’océan, intitulé Organ Ocean – Waves of Sound, a permis à l’auteur torontois André Forget de bâtir sur les bases jetées par Peters pour créer une nouvelle littéraire, The Lower Registers. Le collectif Earth World est tout nouveau, mais la collaboration entre Peters et Foster est déjà bien établie. En 2014, après avoir appris que chacun avait organisé un concert incorporant de la musique électroacoustique, ils décident d’organiser un concert ensemble. Le résultat est In Nomine Lucis, un programne mettant en vedette des pièces électroacoustiques de Huw Morgan et Michael Bonaventure, juxtaposées à une Messe de William Byrd, au In Nomine Lucis de Scelsi, et à une toute nouvelle composition pour l’orgue de Peters. Le concert atteint son point culminant avec le magnifique Mother and Child de Tavener. Le projet suivant consiste en la composition d’une musique électroacoustique pour un service des vêpres à l’église luthérienne Saint-Jean, en collaboration avec le Pasteur Eric Dyck. Cet événement, qui a lieu en 2016, est le fruit de la collaboration d’un grand nombre de musiciens, chanteurs, artistes, membres du clergé et autres. Depuis, Peters et Foster ont produit et collaboré à une série de projets divers, incluant Triptych (2017), Organ Ocean – Waves of Sound (2017), et Searching for Lalla (2017).
