Mohamed N'Diaye 🙌

Mohamed est initié à l’art des percussions, dès l’âge de cinq ans, à Conakry, en Guinée, son pays natal. Percussionniste et danseur, il est formé auprès des plus grands et poursuit cette double formation auprès de son père, Oumar N’Diaye, qu’il rejoint dans les Ballets Africains de Guinée, et plus t**d, au Québec, ils se sont établis. Mohamed y élargit son langage chorégraphique avec la danse contemporaine, en rejoignant la compagnie Virtu’O de Ghyslaine Dôté.
Il poursuit sa route vers le Mexique, où, en contact avec la culture afro-descendante de la région de Veracruz, il renoue avec ses racines, en mettant en valeur le métissage culturel entre l’Afrique de l’Ouest et le Mexique.

Mohamed N’Diaye 🙌

Mohamed was introduced to the art of percussion at the age of five in Conakry, Guinea, his country of origin. A percussionist and dancer, he trained with some of the greatest masters and continued his dual artistic development under the guidance of his father, Oumar N’Diaye, whom he joined in the National Dance Company of Guinea (Ballets Africains de Guinée). Later, they settled in Quebec, where Mohamed expanded his choreographic language by exploring contemporary dance with Ghyslaine Dôté’s company, Virtu’O.
His journey then led him to Mexico, where contact with the Afro-descendant culture of the Veracruz region allowed him to reconnect with his roots by highlighting the cultural fusion between West Africa and Mexico.

Lou-Gaël Koné 🙌

Lou Bass (Lou-Gaël Koné-Ferland) est un musicien montréalais aux racines ivoiriennes et québécoises qui évolue sur scène depuis l’enfance. Percussionniste et bassiste, il s’est produit dans des festivals tels que le Festival International Nuits d’Afrique, le Sarfest et le Fringe Festival, aux côtés d’artistes de renom. Compositeur, il crée une musique originale mêlant funk, mandingue, afrobeat et kompa, offrant des sonorités modernes et distinctives. En parallèle, il anime des événements et des célébrations, apportant une énergie mémorable à chaque prestation.

Lou-Gaël Koné 🙌

Lou Bass (Lou-Gaël Koné-Ferland) is a Montreal-based musician with Ivorian and Québécois roots who has been performing on stage since childhood. A percussionist and bassist, he has performed at festivals such as the Festival International Nuits d’Afrique, Sarfest, and the Fringe Festival, alongside renowned artists. As a composer, he creates original music blending funk, mandingue, afrobeat, and kompa, offering modern and distinctive sounds. In parallel, he hosts events and celebrations, bringing memorable moments to every performance.

Bruno Martinez 🙌

Musicien d’origine mexicaine, il débute ses études musicales à l’âge de 15 ans à l’École Supérieure de Musique de la ville de Mexico, et obtient ensuite un titre décerné par l’université Trinity College London, de Londres, en théorie musicale. Son intérêt pour la percussion et la musique d’influence africaine, en particulier l’Afrique de l’Ouest, le conduit à une recherche indépendante au cours de laquelle il entreprend de nombreux voyages dans des pays comme la Guinée, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, le Brésil et Cuba avant de se spécialiser dans les percussions africaines et afro-latines.
Il participe à divers projets musicaux et artistiques valorisant la recherche et la prise de conscience. Depuis 2015, il s’est joint à Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata depuis l’année 2015.

Bruno Martinez 🙌

A musician of Mexican origin, he began his musical studies at the age of 15 at the Superior School of Music in Mexico City and later earns a title awarded in music theory by Trinity College London. His interest in percussion and music of African influence—particularly from West Africa—led him to independent research that included extensive travel to countries such as Guinea, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Brazil and Cuba, before specializing in African and Afro-Latin percussion.
He participates in various musical and artistic projects where research and consciousness are highlighted. He has been part of Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata since 2015.

Adama Daou 🙌
Musicien malien, Adama Daou a développé sa pratique des percussions africaines (djembe, dumdum, calebasse et balafon) dès l'enfance, alors qu'il participait à des cérémonies traditionnelles. En 2000, Adama s'installe à Paris et multiplie des concerts et tournées en France et en Europe avec plusieurs groupes musicaux tels que Lo'jo ainsi que la compagnie de danse Norma Claire. Parallèlement, Adama organise et anime régulièrement des cours et stages de percussions et danses africaines en France, en Guyane et au Mali, seul ou en lien avec des organismes communautaires. Fin 2011, Adama Daou s'installe à Montréal, participe à plusieurs festivals musicaux au Canada et travaille au sein de Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata. Ces dernières années, il s'est fait connaître pour son art du balafon, tant pour les spectacles qu'il donne que pour l'enseignement qu'il prodigue dans les écoles au Québec et au Canada.

Adama Daou 🙌
Malian musician, Adama Daou, began developing his practice of African percussion (djembe, dundun, calabash, and balafon) in childhood, while participating in traditional ceremonies. In 2000, he moved to Paris, where he performed extensively in concerts and tours across France and Europe with several musical groups, including Lo’Jo, as well as with the Norma Claire dance company.
At the same time, Adama regularly organizes and leads classes and workshops in African percussion and dance in France, French Guiana, and Mali, both independently and in collaboration with community organizations. In late 2011, he settled in Montreal, took part in several music festivals across Canada, and worked with Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata.
In recent years, he has gained recognition for his mastery of the balafon, both through his performances and his teaching in schools across Quebec and Canada.

Elli Miller Maboungou 🙌

Elli a appris à battre le tambour avant de marcher, au sein de Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata, avec laquelle il a grandi. Il en constitue la « mémoire » la plus récente et très prisée, ayant travaillé avec les grands maîtres-tambourinaires auprès desquels il a raffiné son style et sa frappe. Il est un musicien attitré de la formation en danse contemporaine et traditionnelle de sources africaine et diasporique.
En 2013, il a formé son propre groupe afro-jazz, Jazzamboka, qui a remporté le prix Stingray de la meilleure composition au Festival international de jazz de Montréal en 2017.

Elli Miller Maboungou 🙌

Elli learned to drum before he could walk, with Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata, where he grew up. He is the company’s most recent and valued “memory”, having refined his style and technique alongside the great drum-masters. He is the designated musician for the training program in contemporary and traditional dance, rooted in African and diasporic sources.
In 2013, he formed his own Afro-jazz group, Jazzamboka, which won the Stingray Award for Best Music Composition at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 2017.

ZAB MABOUNGOU 🙌

Chorégraphe, danseuse, philosophe et formatrice hors-pair, elle est aussi directrice générale et artistique de Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata (1987). Selon une approche contemporaine holistique, elle défend un art du mouvement à la fois novateur et héritier des sources africaines de la musique et de la danse, dont elle extrait et formule les principes et la technicité (le LO-KE-TO).
Consacrée « Femme Danse » (Marché des arts et du spectacle d'Abidjan, en Côte d’Ivoire [2018]), Zab Maboungou reçoit en 2021 la médaille du Gouverneur Général du Canada pour les arts de la scène.
Zab Maboungou est la fondatrice et la directrice du Centre Création Danse Nyata Nyata (2024).

ZAB MABOUNGOU 🙌

An outstanding choreographer, dancer, philosopher and trainer, she is also the general and artistic director of Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata (1987). According to a holistic contemporary approach, she advocates for an art of movement that is both innovative and rooted in the African sources of music and dance, from which she extracts and formulates the principles and technicity (the LO-KE-TO).
Heralded as “Woman Dance” by the Abidjan Performing Arts Market in Ivory Coast (2018), Zab Maboungou received the Governor General of Canada's medal for the performing arts in 2021.
Zab Maboungou is the founder and director of Centre Création Danse Nyata Nyata (2024).

Originaire du Burkina Faso et directeur artistique associé au Yale Dance Lab (É.-U.), Lacina est une figure influente dans le monde de la danse, reconnu pour son parcours de danseur professionnel, chorégraphe et enseignant.
Il puise dans les danses africaines traditionnelles la matière de ses créations, pour offrir des performances où l’on y reconnait une « tranquillité de présence dans l’espace captivante » (New York Times).
Tout en collaborant avec des compagnies internationales de renom (Salia ni Seydou, Urban Bush Women, Faso Danse Théatre), il développe Sigi-ni, une approche innovante de l'analyse de la danse africaine et s’associe au projet Engagement Féminin pour la danse en Afrique.

Originally from Burkina Faso and Associate Artistic Director at Yale Dance Lab (USA), Lacina is a prominent figure in the dance world, recognized for his work as a professional dancer, choreographer, and instructor.
He draws on traditional African dances as the foundation of his creations, offering performances marked by a “captivating tranquility of presence in space,” (The New York Times).
While collaborating with renowned international companies (Salia ni Seydou, Urban Bush Women, Faso Danse Théâtre), he has developed Sigi-ni, an innovative analytical approach to African dance, and is also involved in the Engagement Féminin project for dance in Africa.

Originaire de Côte d’Ivoire, Ange Kodro Evry Aoussou-Dettmann est chorégraphe et danseuse. Formée à la danse traditionnelle de Côte d’Ivoire, elle poursuit également un parcours en danse contemporaine et moderne-jazz, depuis le réputé Ensemble Kotéba d'Abidjan de Côte d’Ivoire, jusqu’au Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble, en France, et à l'École des Sables au Sénégal, dont elle est une diplômée.
Animée par un profond désir de transmission, dans le plus grand respect des cultures dont elle est issue, elle crée le Centre de Développement Artistique de Lauzoua (CDAL).
Également directrice artistique de la Compagnie Ange Aoussou, elle remporte en 2023 le Grand Prix Germaine Acogny à l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Paris.

Aoussou Kôdrô Ange Evry (Compagnie Ange Aoussou)

Originally from Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Ange Kodro Evry Aoussou-Dettmann is a choreographer and dancer. Trained in traditional dance in her native country, she has also pursued studies in contemporary, modern and jazz dance, from the renowned Ensemble Kotéba in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) to the Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble in France, and the École des Sables in Senegal, from which she is a graduate.
Driven by a deep desire to pass on knowledge, and with the utmost respect for the cultures she comes from, she founded the Lauzoua Artistic Development Centre (CDAL).
She is also the artistic director of Ange Aoussou Company, and in 2023, she was awarded the Grand Prix Germaine Acogny by the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
