“The “most hated” fighters are often dominant, controversial, or polarizing. The favorites are usually exciting, authentic, and willing to take risks.
In MMA, strong reactions mean you matter. Whether loved or hated, the worst thing you can be is ignored. ”

Aaron Tau, a Road to UFC finalist competing at 125 lbs, was scheduled to fight for a contract on one of the biggest stages of his career.
At the official weigh-ins, Tau initially registered well below the flyweight limit, an unusually low number that immediately raised concern among officials. After further scrutiny, he was instructed to re-weigh without the privacy cover.
That second attempt told a very different story: 129 lbs — four pounds over the limit.
The drastic discrepancy led to suspicion that Tau may have been using the cover as a support under his arms to offload weight, a tactic that’s been flagged before in MMA. As a result, his Road to UFC final bout was cancelled, costing him a potential UFC contract.
At this level, weight isn’t just a number, it’s credibility.

Henry Cejudo isn’t holding back. The former two-division champ blasted the idea of Sean O’Malley sitting out and waiting for the winner of a potential Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili trilogy instead of fighting his way back through the division. Cejudo argued that bypassing contenders like Umar Nurmagomedov and Cory Sandhagen undermines the bantamweight title picture and said if the UFC allows that kind of move, he’s done watching.
Cejudo doubled down by calling O’Malley “delusional,” suggesting he’s trying to play the Conor McGregor game without earning it, while other deserving contenders are left in limbo. Whether the UFC rewards patience or forces action remains to be seen but the debate has officially spilled into public view.

Former UFC champion Ilia Topuria briefly addressed the possibility of a future fight with Justin Gaethje during a recent podcast appearance, offering a response that quickly drew attention. When asked whether he would be interested in facing the interim lightweight champion, Topuria replied simply, “por favor.” The short answer, delivered without hesitation, conveyed clear enthusiasm and confidence, suggesting the matchup is one he would readily accept.
The remark added fuel to ongoing speculation about Topuria’s long-term plans and potential opportunities. Gaethje remains one of the most established and dangerous fighters at lightweight, and Topuria’s casual willingness to face him underscored the champion’s self-belief and growing star presence. While no bout has been announced, the moment reinforced Topuria’s image as a fighter open to high-profile challenges against elite opposition.
