The promo card that comes with the Single Pack blister from Mega Evolutions Base set, it's gained +230% in the last week thanks to the help of Team Rocket.

With a 700+ card buyout, things seem to be brewing behind the scenes.

When you take a step back to think about it, there seems to be a gradual gravitation towards Black Star Promo cards in the hobby.

Considering older Black Star Promo cards are getting a lot of attention, maybe folks are getting ahead of the curve by front running current Black Star Promos instead of waiting for them to go out of print.

In any case, with a price increase like this, are you buying or selling this card?

This card used to be about $25 at the bottom. When S&V Base Set first released, the pull rates were aggressively high when comparing to SWSH.

You could complete the entire set with about 3-4 booster box openings which was very rare in SWSH.

It was initially welcomed in the hobby and then shunned as cards didn't keep their values. Fast forward to the hype of today, this card has appreciated 140% over the last 12 months.

As the first block of S&V set rotated out, S&V Base Set is now firmly out of print and folks are flocking to the first 6 sets of the era to add to their collection.

With consistent volume and gradual price increase, the appreciation looks more like a natural climb than the doings of Team Rocket.

Are you rushing to get your cards or do you believe the euphoria will slowly die down?

Probably a more anticipated set than the upcoming Marvel Super Heroes Set, The Hobbit saw major sales volume yesterday during TCG Players Mayhem Sale.

With a 8% Store Credit on purchased items, it's a good hedge on big ticket items such as Collector Boxes.

Considering there are no serialized cards although there is a confirmation that there is limited print runs for the main chase card, the gold Smaug the Magnificent, a lot of people are already jockeying and trying to secure their collector boxes.

It's also important to note that this set isn't releasing with any commander decks.

As this set drops in August, do you think there is more opportunity in getting a collector box at these elevated prices or to score some LOTR commander decks as a proxy to this set?

Never under estimate the law of supply and demand.

Following as the main set after the specialty set of Shrouded Fable, this was probably the "weakest" time in recent Pokémon TCG history. Everyone was skipping sets and looking for reprints of Pokémon 151. Stellar Crown only had the Squirtle and Bulbasaur IRs with the Charmander IR being available through the Obsidian Flames ETB as a promo card.

Fast forward a 18 months, Stellar Crown ETB has appreciated more than Prismatic Evolutions ETB over the same time frame. How?!?!

Simple, it's all about supply and demand. Due to the insane demand of Prismatic Evolutions, The Pokémon Company has spent the last 16 months printing this set to the ground. Meanwhile, Stellar Crown was most likely forgotten in the background.

With the hype of the 30th anniversary set pushing the Kanto Starters into the spotlight, and with Stellar Crown having 2 IRs in there, it's since seen a resurgence in popularity. Although much slower moving than Prismatic Evolutions, there is A LOT LESS of it out there.

As singles continue to increase in price, the expected value of this set continues to climb and with less sealed product in the wild, it only takes a few sales for the ETB to climb.

Will Perfect Order be the next Stellar Crown from the Mega Evolutions block?

Yes, featuring Mewoth is on purpose :P

This card came with Pokemon TCG for Game Boy Color. Since it came with the game, there's a high probability the print run is very limited, even with the amount of units the game has sold.

Due to the age, a lot of these cards are probably damaged or came out of the box not in pristine condition as Game Boy packaging was stuffy.

Having appreciated 168% over the last year, this looks to be undervalued considering the newest Meowth SIR from Perfect Order is pushing $200.

Do you think WOTC will finally have its time to shine?

With the Meowth SIR being that top chase card in Perfect Order, looks like a lot of Meowth cards are getting notice. This is the halo affect that a top chase card can give, similar to how the Bubble Mew's tide helped all of the other Mew cards rise in value.

We can see the same being applied to Meowth IR from Phantasmal Flames.

Going for beloe $15 a couple of months ago, it show up to prominence as the top chase card in Perfect Order is giving more attention to Meowth in general.

This art is also available as Black Star Promo on the Japanese side although slightly harder to get.

Are you buying or selling Meowth becoming a more popular Pokémon?

Temporal Forces will be one of the sets being rotated out next April, 2027.

In the meantime, it is still legal within competitive play and the Mist Energy is a key cornerstone to the winning Lopunny Dudunsparce deck that took 1st place last week during the Regional in Utrecht.

When being a cornerstone card, moves like a 700% increase in the last month is very possible. Considering this set was probably the least printed out of all of S&V, there might be further premium's for a holofoil version.

Is it time for y'all to start going through your Temporal Forces bulk?

The main chase card from Chaos Rising, the Mega Greninja EX SIR is selling for about $400-500 (the graph is taking a bit of time to update).

That being said, there's also the gold version going for about $350 for a NM copy.

Only time will tell if this is helping the current situation with Ascended Heroes or Pokémon in general although it doesn't seem to be. There are reports that some LGSs didn't even get their 2nd wave of Perfect Order Booster Boxes yet. These are already pushing $220 on TCG Player while it was below $200 for about a week.

The Meowth in Perfect Order is also pushing $200 as people start to understand that there actually isn't that much Perfect Order out there.

Do you think the bull will slow down any time soon or will we see a climax with the 30th anniversary set?

Lorcana got off to a rocky start. The First Chapter got massive reprints and subsequent sets got left on store shelves as the product was readily available whenever anyone wanted to rip packs.

The collectability seemed to be disappearing with each reprint while chase cards continued to lose value.

Fabled was the first set post "turnaround". Organized play was buttoned up and product print runs were tightened up. The Fabled chase card, Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Prince (Iconic), hit some sales of $3,000+ on TCG player.

The booster box is also approaching $500 and looks like it's not stopping. With renewed confidence in the TCG for collectors and ample supply available for players, are we seeing the true potential for Disney Lorcana?

Probably the weakest set from the 2024 release schedule, Stellar Crown did not see a reprint after it's initial release wave.

Only the Squirtle and Bulbasaur were real chase cards from the set, they were only Illustration Rare cards.

As the demand remains high in the hobby, specially for starter Pokémon, those cards are now pushing $125 for a NM copy at the writing of this post. Bulbasaur is actually more expensive than Squirtle.

Terapagos EX SIR had doubled in price in the last month. I saw some posts online of how a lot of LGSs aren't able to keep up with prices and a handful of people finding these cards for ~$30.

With the insane hype in the hobby, is now the time to look for deals or sell into the hype and buy that higher end card you were looking for?
