Hello Hashtag Yummy Fans and Bacon Lovers
It has been a minute. For anyone who asked about catering this year, you will know that I have paused catering this year as life was getting too busy. That being said, I still have the itch to cook, and bacon is on my mind.
Many of you have had the chance to try Hashtag Yummy bacon, and once you have it, it is hard to eat grocery store bacon again. This bacon is a nice mix of sweet and spicy and hand cut nice and think. Here is your chance to get some more, just in time for Christmas.
To add a little fun to it, I am going to do a contest where everyone is a winner, but one person will win the big prize.
Cost: $20 per entry
What you get: One pack of bacon and a chance to win an entire pork belly of bacon (around 10 packs of bacon)

Not much better than paella at the campground. Made with chicken, chorizo, shrimp and mussels. Came out great. Hope everyone is having a good Canada Day weekend.

Hashtag Yummy Catering
Another catering event, this time for my aunt’s birthday. Theme was BBQ. Made some tasty Pulled Pork, enough Mac and Cheese for an army, Greek Salad, Coleslaw and Potato Salad. I was happy with the results.

Couple of tasty items from Hashtag Yummy.
Made a new round of bacon. Good flavour but maybe a bit salty.
Second is an Asian style cucumber salad. I loved this one. Bit of spice to go with the sesame based dressing.
Third was an arugula salad with roasted potato, radish and arugula pesto. Looked pretty and tasted nice too.

Hashtag Yummy Catering
Another great catering event last night. The group was very welcoming. I had Abby as a special helper in this event and she did great. Here was the menu:
1st Course: Lobster Toast, Lemon Tarragon Aioli
2nd Course: Seared Scallop with Mashed Sweet Potato, Pickled Mustard Seed and Maple Reduction
3rd Course: Lebanese Fattoush Salad, Pan Fried Halloumi and Mint Dressing
4th Course: Gnocchi with Duck Ragu
5th Course: Lemon Tart, Italian Meringue, Raspberry

Fresh from the Hashtag Yummy Research and Development Lab:
Made some very tasty ribs today. Spice rub was Meat Church Holy Gospel and finishing sauce was from Blues Hog. 3-2-1 method on my Camp Chef Wildwood. Maybe my best ribs yet.

This weekend was a special weekend celebrating my wife’s birthday with our good friends. We rented a beautiful Airbnb on the water and cooked up some of her favourite food.
On Friday I made some tasty appetizers. The first was toast topped with lobster, a lemon tarragon aioli, old bay and micro greens. The second was sweet potato topped with guacamole, pickled red onion and chimichurri.
On Saturday, I made home made fettuccine two ways. The first was with a homemade pesto, cream, shrimp and cherry tomatoes. The second was a ragu made with smoked bacon, ground beef, pork and veal. Dessert was a lemon tart with Italian meringue, raspberries and a raspberry coulis.
She was happy with the meals but the great friends and beautiful location made the weekend.

Another fun catering event complete. This time I had my daughter Addison helping me out.
Here was the menu:
Course 1: Latin Sweet Potatoes, Guacamole, Shrimp, Pickled Red Onion and Chimichurri
Course 2: Coquilles St Jacques
Course 3: Salad with Blueberries, Feta, Homemade Bacon and Blueberry Vinaigrette
Course 4: Braised Short Ribs, Celery Root Purée, Orange and Honey Glazed Carrots, Wine Sauce
Course 5: Brownie Pie, Whipped Cream, Homemade Hot Fudge, Salted Caramel

BACON CONTEST EXTENDED
Since the contest is going so well and we still have a week for the bacon to cure, we decided to extend the contest a bit longer. The contest now ends on Saturday, March 19th. Still time to get your tickets for some tasty homemade bacon. Tickets are 1 for $10 or 3 for $20. All profits to the Moncton Hawks Girls U14 basketball team.
How much bacon are we talking about? Around 10-12 packages of thick cut bacon in 3 different flavours: Classic Maple Pepper, Coffee and Molasses, and Raging Cajun.
