NEW PRODUCT ALERT

We are excited to introduce our Staged Injection System for engine 900R snowmobiles with stock engines using our MaxxECU engine management system. This system was developed more than 8 years ago and was only available to customers running custom forged / race engines. We have now adapted this outstanding system for use with totally stock engines.

Our Stage Injection System is the safest solution to run high boost on a stock engine. The system is designed to run nearly 29psi boost which allows a net power output of around 300hp. The use of C16 fuel ensures there is no chance of detonation ever happening leading to engine damage. The system is also fully compatible for customers using forged / race engines. In that case, a higher capacity pump is used which supports boost pressure beyond 50psi.

What is Staged Injection on a 900R?

Operation is simple. This system is only active in Sport mode. While in Sport mode, the snowmobile operates on normal pump gas until boost reaches 21psi. As boost increases beyond 21psi, the pump gas injectors are gradually disabled and a set of C16 fuel injectors are gradually enabled. The transition between the two sets of injectors is totally seamless to the rider and managed automatically by the ECU.

Installation is simple. Everything comes pre-wired and pre-calibrated. Our system features a fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator directly installed in a standard BRP Link fuel caddy. This allows customers to carry additional cargo while maintaining a factory look. The design is compact and uses only high quality components.

The system requires a MaxxECU system and an upgraded turbo such as our Pure turbo upgrade or our Garrett upgrade. The stock 900R turbo can not be used as it does not have sufficient flow capacity for staged injection.

Inquire about this outstanding new product offering for your Skidoo 900R. We offer a credit for customers who already have our aluminum intake manifold and/or who already have a BRP Link fuel caddy.

There is simply no match for this system for trail riders and recreational racers alike.

PS-6 Lynx 2025 Build -- MaxxECU engine management system

The MaxxECU engine management system is the most important and critical component that makes this PS-6 Lynx 900R build possible. It sets PS-6 apart from the rest and without it, PS-6 would be just another pimped up 900R.

Here is some background as to why we only use dedicated standalone engine management systems in all our build projects.

Interesting fact...

Did you know Precision Sports was the very first company ever to reflash a snowmobile ECU back in 2007. At the time, no other companies were offering this service. We enjoyed a massive commercial success at the time, essentially reflashing Bosch ECU's used on all turbocharged Polaris snowmobiles produced between 2006-2014. However, we quickly realized reflashing ECU's was not optimal and we opted out of the market in favor of developing plug and play MoTeC standalone ECU's for the snowmobile market. This was also the time when countless shops entered the reflash market competing one another on price point and rushing imperfect tunes on the market to gain visibility and momentum. We did not want to be part of that and abandoned selling reflashes over 10 years ago. Experience gained in the early years prompted us to focus our efforts on development projects not feasible using stock reflashed ECU's.

The MaxxECU system installed on PS-6 is the same we sell to all our customers around the world for their 900R snowmobiles. However, it is set up with several experimental features that are specific to PS-6. The base configuration of all MaxxECU systems have the following functionalities:

- Closed loop fuel, boost and knock control
- User defined boost targets
- User defined RPM limits
- Automatic self tuning capability with ongoing fuel adaption capability for those varying operating, elevation and terrain conditions
- Staged injection allowing the use of hybrid fuel configurations
- Automatic octane detection and power derating from Sport to Standard mode in situations when octane is not high enough for Sport mode
- Bluetooth communication with and Android device to create high end custom dash displays
- Launch control (2 step) from a dead stop
- Launch control from a rolling start
- User configurable data logging for engine operation review and editing
- Automatic engine starting at the simple push of the start button much like all modern cars
- Vehicle immobilizer to prevent theft
- Full compatibility with all Skidoo dash from 2019 to present
- User defined cooling fan operation
- Integration of CAN keypads for extra accessory control
- And... the list goes on.

This is the 7th year using and selling these systems for 900T and 900R Skidoo snowmobiles. We know it is indisputably the absolute best system out there. It is stable, will start engines in freezing temperatures down to -35C, will idle like a stocker, will protect the engine against abuse and will allow any power output level with the only limitations being the hardware surrounding the engine and/or the fuel octane used. We have never seen one single, and let's repeat again, not one single engine failure with these systems since 2019.

Our next and final chapter for this build will be about real world testing of PS-6.... attached picture shows a sneak peek preview of an initial test result on the snow at 35psi boost... stay tuned.

PS-6 2025 Lynx build -- Turbo and supporting hardware

We have chosen a Garrett GT2860 Gen II for this build. We feel this is the best all around turbo for high performance recreational applications. This turbo is paired with a small ar turbine housing to maintain good trail manners and spool fast. The turbine housing is a Tial .52ar V-band stainless unit.

Boost is managed using a Tial 38mm MVS wastegate. This wastegate is configured with rather stiff springs with a base pressure of 18psi. Consequently, the minimum boost will be around 19psi which is perfect for pump gas. It will also support boost pressure to around 40psi assuming there is little restriction at the muffler.

The intake is our standard aluminum unit. It is modified to accept the larger 54mm throttle body and 6 injectors. Total injector capacity is 2 x 85lbs/hr per cylinder. The internal 4 bar map sensor from the MaxxECU is enabled for PS-6

The intercooler is our standard high capacity unit which has proven great in race applications over the years. It features a massive core and large tanks with cast aluminum inlet/outlet elbows. A one piece aluminum charge tube of 2.25" is used between the intercooler and the throttle body. A Tial Q-BOV is attached to the charge tube and is loaded with the Tial white spring to avoid cruising with this BOV partially open.

A sophisticated aircraft oil vent system is used to separate oil droplets from the crankcase vent at the valve cover. This is much more than a "dumb" catch can. It is a system that returns oil into the engine oil sump and lets clean positive air pressure from the crankcase exit out in the open. It is a system similar to what is often found in performance aircraft piston engines and larger turbocharged diesel marine engines.

Finally, PS-6 is set up with our successful full V-band header kit to mount the turbo, the wastegate and the exhaust downpipe going to the factory muffler. The muffler itself has been lightly modified to enhance flow -- but still remain as quiet as possible.

This complete system has proven to be very reliable over the years. We tried longer tube headers in the past and concluded these can only be considered for applications where turbo spool is not a crucial success factor. We have also experimented with just about every turbo combinations (Xona Rotors, Borg Warner, Cat turbos, Garrett 2854, 2560, 2860RS, 2863, 2867 & 3071) and the GT2860R Gen II remains at the top of our list for all around great performance and reliability.

Our next chapter will describe the MaxxECU engine management system in details... stay tuned.
