On this , we’re looking back at last Saturday’s butter_tart_trot with gratitude. As one beneficiary of this incredible event hosted by North Simcoe Rotaract Club, we’re excited to share the impact these proceeds will have for those supported by CLH. 🌟

Bridging the Gap (BTG) is a CLHF initiative that addresses food insecurity while promoting skill building for members of CLH’s Supported Independent Living Program. With support from North Simcoe Rotaract Club and partners including the Heart of Georgian Bay Community Fund and Huronia Community Foundation, the program has grown to include food supports, cooking and nutrition workshops, and access to fresh produce.

Now, thanks in part to proceeds from the 2026 Butter Tart Trot, BTG is taking its next step. Through a new monthly “Good Food Shop” experience at Brian & Ricki’s No Frills, participants plan their budget, review specials, and choose fresh foods that meet their own needs, preferences, and requirements. More than grocery shopping, this initiative fosters choice, independence, and dignity — and works to remove barriers to fresh choices, which is more crucial now than ever.

Thank you to North Simcoe Rotaract Club for helping make this important opportunity possible. Your support directly impacts SIL members by helping ensure access to fresh, healthy food and empowering people to make informed choices for themselves. Through Bridging the Gap, you’re supporting more than food security—you’re supporting independence, dignity, and choice. 💜

Mike Fairbanks, a fantastic neighbour and friend from Advanced Foot & Orthotic Clinic, has once again showcased his commitment to support CLH through his creative fundraising initiative during the Butter Tart Festival, and what we affectionately call the “Parking Lot for Good.” 💜

Pictured are Mike Fairbanks, Sarah Kitchen, President CLHF Board of Directors, and Dorothy Blanks, CLHF Board Member, who were thrilled to receive this thoughtful contribution.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mike and Erin, and the entire team at Advanced Foot & Orthotic Clinic for their ongoing generosity and community spirit. 🌟

We’re back with another edition of Monthly Donor Monday, and today we are talking to Paula Koval about why she chooses to give to CLHF. 💜🌟

“Why am I a monthly donor to CLH? My good friend Sarah told me about the people CLH serves and how its services are designed to fit the individual, and are person-directed. I knew that CLH would make good use of my micro-philanthropy if Sarah was giving her time to CLH.
I began with occasional donations, but given the breadth and depth of CLH's services, I began to think more about my giving to CLH.
I thought if a business operates more
efficiently by knowing its monthly income, CLH Foundation would likewise, so I began making monthly donations to support ongoing programming.
Monthly donations also make it easier for a retired person on a fixed income like myself to give, in whatever amount — and I am blessed and called to do so.”
