Your overnight guest now comes with a $6 parking fee. 🚗

Starting October 1, Markham will charge $6 for each daily overnight street parking exemption. Each licence plate can request up to 10 nights per calendar year. Street parking from 2:30 to 6 a.m. still requires an exemption.

The City says the fee helps cover processing costs. For residents with visiting family or a driveway full of cars, is $6 a night reasonable, or is this one fee too many?

Buttonville Airport is finally getting redeveloped.

Construction is expected to start next year.

But honestly, this feels like the low-hanging fruit.

169 acres beside the 404. Prime Markham real estate.

And the answer?

Warehouses.

Industrial space is doing extremely well in the GTA, so I get the economics.

But this site had the potential to become something much bigger. There were even rumours over the years about major entertainment uses coming here, including Universal Studios.

Instead, runway becomes warehouse.

Good business?

Probably.

Big vision?

I’m not so sure.
