The Annual Ontario Women Liberals Commission fundraising event was held last night at the new YWCA Toronto venue on Elm Street. Nancy and the CG Group were happy to again be involved in the event organization. The event is held under the banner of the Margaret Campbell Fund raising much needed financial support for women running for provincial election for the Liberal party. Approximately 200 people -- men and women -- attended. By any measure the event was a huge success with Premier Wynne inspiring the audience that included women caucus members, newly nominated women candidates and hopefuls still facing nomination contests. Nancy had the pleasure of thanking the Premier for her remarks while reminding the audience of the importance of political engagement. The funds raised last night may be put to good use if a spring election is called.

Green energy costs ‘minimal’ for consumers, study shows 03/17/2014

Wind Blowing in Favor of Renewables Again. A report today says Ontario electricity costs not increasing as a result of new renewables investments.

The analysis conducted for Environmental Defence by independent energy consulting firm Power Advisory LLC, shows that the cost of energy from solar, wind and bioenergy currently makes up about 9 per cent of an average electricity bill in Ontario.
Other forms of power make up about 48 per cent of the bill, while the balance is the cost of delivering power, a regulatory fee, tax and a charge to retire the debt on nuclear power plants.
Renewable power is often blamed for rising electricity costs, said Environmental Defence campaign director Gillian McEachern, but they “play a fairly small role in Ontarians’ electricity bills today.”

Why not take advantage of reaching out so Canadians’ views can be represented? This is just one of the ways that we believe any party, association or group can STRUT their stuff.

Mini Metro Alpha Trailer 03/07/2014

Mini Metro is a new app allowing users to build their own subway systems. It is surprisingly addictive given its user friendly design and feature-set. Recently released in trial version, we have a feeling that this app will likely appeal to Toronto transit fans as we all have our fair share of opinions regarding improvements and comparisons to other transit systems. The game however it quite difficult! Try it out!
