Last Christmas (Blaskapelle Geräusch Cover) 12/25/2025

It's been awhile but we have a new release out into the world! Check out this festive cover of "Last Christmas" by GERÄUSCH! Merry Christmas / Frohe Weihnachten!

Last Christmas (Blaskapelle Geräusch Cover) The debut single from GERÄUSCH as a performing artist, and debut of the "Blaskapelle" variation of their solo music! This track features an Oberkrainer Blasmusik polka vibe with solo trombone playing

After a two month wait for my new interface (seriously lame @longandmcquade) I’m FINALLY getting my upgraded/rearranged hybrid analog/digital studio together! Got my Tascam 388 for 8 track reel to reel goodness, my trusty Allen & Heath Zed R 16, and the new PreSonus Quantum 2626 thunderbolt interface to tie them all together! Using the 16ch of ADAT on the Quantum to be able to mix down from my computer since the built in FireWire interface is now obsolete. I could also send up to 16ch from my mixer into the interface as well. Similarly if I wanted to bounce out individual tracks from tape to digital or vice versa with my 388 to the Quantum that’s also now possible! 03/01/2024

Mixing in the studio today. Students in my Rock Band class did recording sessions last month, now I’m gettin rough reference mixes done for them. Hopefully we’ll pick the best takes (or spots for potential splices/edits). The goal was to capture what they can do live, so I want to keep the “studio magic” (aka meticulous editing) as minimal as possible. I’ll be doing some lessons on the mixing process for them, as well as uploading the raw tracks for them to work on learning to edit and mix on their own as well. I do plan to do full polished mixes myself though, along with recordings from some of the previous Rock Band cohorts over the years and release our first album later this spring!

VU meters and chonky faders.

I really love charts like this, shows the perfect balance between thinking musically and technically. Knowing what frequencies are most prominent of certain instruments can really help when using EQ on the mix down to subtly clean up the blend and balance of the recording.

Do you want to sound like everyone else, or sound unique?

Keep it simple.

Established in 2013 as a music production company for classical and indie artists while studying music education at UBC, The Weingärtner Phonogram Company recorded dozens of musicians at the UBC School of Music, released a handful of singles, 3 physical CDs and a vinyl record as a label, and was the home to many other recording projects out of its downtown New Westminster studio. Following a move to Maple Ridge, owner and producer Brian Weingartner began setting up his new studio space inside his house. Unfortunately with the outbreak of Covid, the studio was only able to produce one project before things closed down. In the successive years, Brian’s attention was on his day job as a high school music teacher, diving into DJing both in person and online, and starting a small farm growing Chile peppers. As we head into 2024, 10 years since his first single release he is finally getting the new home based studio fully set up with its unique hybrid analog tape and digital music production capabilities. This is “Side A” and the room adjacent is “Side B” for live tracking which can comfortably fit a drum kit, solo artist or small combo. Get in touch if you’ve got a project you want to record in the new year!
