Invitation to Open House for VCC Youth Train in Trades Hairstylist Dual Credit Program

Dear Students and Parents,

We are excited to invite you to an open house on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The event will take place at the Salon 42 Portable located at Samuel Robertson Technical Secondary School, 10445 245th Street, Maple Ridge, BC.

This open house is a great opportunity for prospective students and parents to learn about the VCC Youth Train in Trades Hairstylist Dual Credit Program, which is delivered by VCC in partnership with School District 42. The Hairstylist – High School program at VCC is a 10-month certificate program that starts in September 2026. It is part of VCC’s hairstyling offerings and provides students with a solid foundation in hairstyling, preparing them to work towards obtaining their Red Seal Certification of Qualification.

What will I learn? Upon successful completion of this program, learners will gain the skills to perform hairstyling duties in line with industry health and safety standards, including hygiene and sanitation practices. They will learn to use and maintain tools effectively, demonstrate professional communication, and understand the structure and functions of skin and hair. Additionally, learners will be trained in services such as shampooing, haircuts, styling, and coloring techniques, as well as permanent waving and handling various hair textures. The program also covers essential business management skills for operating a hair salon.

At the open house, you will have the opportunity to meet the faculty members who will teach the September 2026 cohorts at SRT.

Hosted by XdHacks Mini Vancouver, Hack Your Life 2026 is an in-person Hackathon at BCIT(British Columbia Institution of Technology) Burnaby Campus that encourages high-school students from BC to try and develop prototypes that will help improve people's daily life. Within the span of 24 hours, teams will work together to develop digital ideas aimed towards helping confront struggles that people and themselves face in their daily lives today. There will be workshops, keynote presentations, interactive activities, and mentors to assist your creation along every step of the way. The event is happening on Saturday May 30th - Sunday May 31st, 2026.
In order to provide pizza lunches for both days and snacks for all participants, a registration fee is required. For regular registration (until May 22, 2026, 11:59 pm), this fee is $15.00 per individual.You will have the option to register as an individual, or an individual in a team
