It really is a small world. You’d be surprised how often paths cross, separate, and then cross again when you least expect them.

Running Forest City Rats has made that especially clear for me. London Ontario isn’t a huge, anonymous space. It’s a small, interconnected community where you tend to recognize names, faces, and stories over time. Sometimes, even from completely different chapters of your work life. Every now and then, it’s a bit surreal to realize someone is reaching out to you in a new context, not quite remembering (or perhaps not realizing) that there was a whole history there already.

A gentle reminder that kindness travels further than you think, and the way you treat people has a funny habit of catching up with you later, in one way or another. 🖤

We’ve got a fresh little update for you this month, and you may have already noticed things look a bit different around here… Our website has had its biggest facelift yet!

As Forest City Rats has grown, we’ve been working behind the scenes to better organize everything - from adoptions, to our Second Chance Program, to small pet boarding. The goal was simple: make everything easier to find, clearer to read, and smoother to navigate on both desktop and mobile.

One of the biggest changes is the launch of the FCR Shop. Instead of separate pages, everything will now live in one place (available rats, accessories, and more).

We’re also excited to be teaming up with some amazing local creators to bring in new, rat-themed goodies! Think embroidered tees, cozy sweatshirts, mugs, tote bags, and other fun custom items. Plus, new FCR-made bundles and rat supplies like:
🍓 Snackle boxes curated by FCR
📦 Wellness, bonding, and go-home bundles
🌿 Dig boxes grown in-house

Don’t worry, every rat will still head home with a personalized goodie bag, just like always.

We’ll also soon be offering payment at the door with our secure POS card reader for tap and chip payments, but all orders will still need to be placed through the website in advance, so terms are reviewed and agreed to.

We'll also be doing a small feature on our two current adoptable rats, Rodrick and Remy. We've got a full house at the moment! 👀

As the 2026 Forest Capital of Canada, we’re celebrating by giving away over 2,000 free trees on Earth Day, your chance to add life, shade, and beauty to your home, while helping grow our urban forest.
- When: April 22, 2026
- Where: Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre
- Time: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Bonus: One free bag of Green Bin compost per vehicle (while supplies last)
- Limit: 2 trees per vehicle, while supplies last
