Happy Birthday to the Big Bifana, the occasional smoke machine, my pizza provider, the OG Lemonade & the immediate "yes" to any dumb idea at a gig: Scott Rebelo
It's always a nice testament to our friendship when people tell me that we must have known each other forever when in reality I just met you randomly at a show in 2016 at Chainsaw and you wanted help with Frank Dux's first show. I told you to email me (hahahah, for real), but you did! We booked that show, and from that day I've lost track of the number of music things we started to do together (okay, that's probably not true - I keep all the posters, hahah) from booking your band, booking events together, playing shows together and eventually playing in the same band.
Fast-track to ten years today and I still haven't consistently laughed harder with anyone (typically to complete tears), had someone always have my best interests in mind ("okay, time to add me to the gear chat"), but most importantly teach me (+ remind me when I forget) the best lesson I've learned in a long time that I'll share with you all:
"You're never too cool to care."
That sentiment alone helped revitalize the enthusiasm I lost at times or wanted to give up when things got too overwhelming. Scott has graciously talked a lot over the years what I've done for Pink Lemonade Records or the music scene and how we're here today.. except in reality I wouldn't be here doing all of this without him. Especially when I've been outvoted to quit 😂
But it's so true. You're never too cool to care about what you love, who you love or anything that means something to you. It's why I haven't given up. It's why you shouldn't either.
And I love Scott Rebelo. I bet if you know him, you probably do, too.
- Zack.

Happy Friday! It's been awhile since we've made a post like this, but we wanted to finish this week off strong and formally welcome The Abruptors to the PL family here in 🇨🇦 Canada 🇨🇦!!
Formed in Buffalo NY in 2015, the band has spent the past 11 years touring across America and Canada. With a unique blend of traditional ska, soul and reggae, The Abruptors are no strangers to the DIY scene with their support from the legendary Mike Park . This quartet can seen tearing up the festival circuit, supporting heavy hitters in the Ska scene, and forming a contagious dancefloor with their original music spanning across multiple singles, EPs and full length albums.
We're excited to announce we are now stocked with The Abruptors merch, and will be handling shipping and distribution across Canada, helping with booking and logistics, and whatever else the horizon has in store!
As we enter our 10th year anniversary with this little label of ours, and having spent the past few years focused on events, we've had many discussions about regrowing our distro roster with more original bands. This is just the beginning of our collaborative relationship with an expanding list of excellent bands who we've come to love as people and musicians.
Big love,
Scott, Zack & Cody 🍋

🇬🇧 FRIDAY, JUNE 5TH 🇬🇧
We've had the illustrious down from the United Kingdom a number of times in the past few years, and apparently we've gotten word that it's his last Canadian tour so we're setting up shop at our favourite brewery with some local friends , & to wish him well and have some fun while he's in town.
Pay what you can. No one turned away for lack of funds.
Doors at 6pm, but show up to and enjoy a beer before the show starts 🤘🏽
