2024 Racing Season ✅
Release date set for the new single, Run Run Run ✅ (Nov 29, 2024)

Although I wasn’t able to take on the 21k Spartan Beast and complete my Spartan Trifecta at Blue Mountain last weekend due to concern over a foot injury, I was able complete a 5k Spartan Sprint with over 10 minute PB, and submit my next single “Run Run Run” for release to streaming services everywhere!

Run Run Run is a song I wrote about my journey back to health, hope, happiness and fitness after a years-long descent into depression and inactivity. I’ll be sharing some pictures and stories from my fitness/running journey in the lead up to the release and I hope my story and song will be helpful to others who are facing similar challenges. I’ll upload pre-save links as soon as they become available!

A Lullaby for London Ontario, “Maple & Pine” tells a story about learning to appreciate the beauty of living in your hometown even as you miss your friends who have left to chase their dreams in mega cities like Toronto, New York and LA.

With musical textures reminiscent of current folk stars Passenger and the Lumineers and a vocal and lyric style influenced by Gordon Lightfoot and Johnny Cash, Matthew Martin combines the old and the new to create music with a wide appeal to folk and adult contemporary fans alike.

Prior to release, Maple & Pine won second prize out of 162 entries in the inaugural Aeolian Hall songwriting competition as judged by multi Juno award winning folk artist Valdy, Tony Dekker of the Great Lakes Swimmers, and Canadian Los Angeles based songwriter Andrea Wasse.
