Strong You
As a certified personal trainer, I help women become stronger and healthier versions of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I am married to a wonderful guy of 25 years! We have two children, ages 21 and 18. We love to travel and have visited several countries, many states in America, and almost every province in Canada. I stay active by walking, running, biking, and swimming (only in the summer). I also make strength training a regular part of my exercise routine. As a certified personal trainer, I am passionate about helping others become a healthier and stronger version of themselves.

I love these fun shots taken at our son and daughter-in-law’s wedding almost a year ago. 😆
I especially love that our kids have grown up in an environment where health and fitness have always been a priority. 👊🏼
For them it was years of soccer, gymnastics, spending time outdoors hiking, biking, skateboarding, and swimming. For me and my husband, it was going to the gym consistently, participating in races, planning active “vacations” 🤣 and choosing to buy healthier food.
What we have cultivated in their lives as parents is bearing fruit in their adulthood. ❤️
We have showed them:
🔥 that strength matters — especially as we age
🔥 that taking care of our health isn’t a punishment—it’s a privilege
🔥 that discipline is an act of self-respect
The habits we built have become the standards they carry as young adults. We hope that these standards will continue for generations to come. 💪🏼
This was a conversation I had with one of my clients today. I was checking in on her since she was two weeks post op from a hip surgery.
I started her on a structured strength training plan back in August. She made her workouts a priority, knowing how important it was to build muscle in her 60s. 💪🏼
Because of the muscle mass that she had gained pre op, she has been recovering so well that even her physiotherapist is amazed. 👏🏼👏🏼
The truth is when someone goes into surgery with more muscle, strength, and stability, they give their body a better starting point to recover.
Muscle acts like a reserve. When your body is under stress, it pulls from that reserve to repair and rebuild.
Without it, recovery is often:
☹️ slower
☹️ harder
☹️ more limiting
Strength training can help:
🔥 reduce muscle loss
🔥 improve circulation
🔥 support tissue repair
🔥 speed up return to normal activity
This is one of many reasons why strength training is important.
You don’t wait until after surgery to take care of your body. You build it up before. 👊🏼
Your back supports nearly every movement you make:
• lifting
• pulling
• bending
• carrying
• standing
When the muscles of the back are weak, other areas start to compensate — and that’s when pain and injury often show up.
A strong back:
✔ supports the spine
✔ reduces risk of lower back pain
✔ improves posture
✔ helps you lift and carry safely
✔ protects your shoulders and hips
✔ improves overall strength
Exercises that help build a strong back:
🔥 bent over rows
🔥 single arm rows
🔥 reverse flys
🔥 supermans
These movements strengthen the muscles that stabilize and support the spine. 💪🏼
Knee pain❓
It might not be your knee.
Most knee pain isn’t a joint problem. It’s a strength problem. 💪🏼
💥Weak quads → poor kneecap tracking (common for runners)
💥Weak glutes → knees cave inward
💥Weak hamstrings → joint strain increases
Your muscles are supposed to absorb force. If they don’t… your knee does. 😣
Strength training can:
✔ Reduce joint stress
✔ Improve tendon resilience
✔ Increase load tolerance
✔ Decrease pain over time
Effective exercises:
🔥 squats
🔥 split squats/stationary lunges
🔥 bridges
🔥 seated leg lifts
🔥 single leg deadlift holds
🔥 wall sits

This morning while training my client, I was reminded yet again of how important functional fitness is. She shared a story of how she was able to effortlessly take care of her elderly mother over the weekend — something she acknowledged that she wouldn’t have been able to do this time last year. 🌟
Functional fitness isn’t about getting bulky or looking muscular. It’s about doing what matters. 💥
Every movement has a purpose.
Every lift, carry, squat, lunge, push, and rotation is training for real life.
Being intentional with workouts means that our bodies are prepared for whatever the day asks of us — work, play, stress, or rest. 🙌🏼
Train with intention. Move with purpose. Live stronger. 💪🏼

The scale is just one tool, not the whole story. Progress shows up in so many subtle ways. 👇🏼
Your clothes fit better. 💃🏼
You have more energy. 🏃
You’re getting stronger. 💪🏼
Your mood is improving. 😎
You’re sleeping better. 😴
Healthy habits feel easier. 🌟
You feel more confident. 💁🏻♀️
Keep going — the changes are happening even when the scale doesn’t move.

Doing the same exercises week after week isn’t exciting, but it’s how progress actually happens. Repetition allows you to improve your form and increase weight, sets, and reps over time.💪🏼
Constantly switching workouts may feel productive, but consistency is what builds strength, confidence, and results. The basics work when you commit to them long enough. ✨
You don’t need a new routine every week. You need patience, discipline, and trust in the process. 👊🏼
Show up.
Do the boring work.
Let the results speak. 💥
