Recently had the opportunity to present executives from major film studios with a gift from Lethbridge - pieces of KORITE Ammolite - Alberta’s official gemstone known for being the only region in the world to produce ammolite with the coat of many colours that makes it a valuable export. It is also spiritually significant to the Blackfoot peoples with teachings signifying ammolite and Buffalo Stone with the return of prosperity to the nation.
The event was a FAM Tour which featured Calgary Economic Development team showing CBS/Paramount, Lionsgate, Amazon, Picket fence Pictures, and HBO around to signature locations and soundstages and was capped off with a mixer for professionals during stampede.
Speakers who participated included Minister Tanya Fir, CEDs Brad Perry, and Calgary’s ward 6 councillor John Pantazopoulos Councillor for Ward 6 highlighting the industries importance to the provincial economy and ways to work together to attract more investment in the future 🎥 🎞️ 🌀 🦬

Join us on Thursday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m. for a screening of , the award-winning documentary from Blackfoot filmmaker Damien Eagle Bear.
Exploring the story behind one of Indigenous social media's most iconic memes, follows the life of Pernell Bad Arm, a Kainai man whose image became a symbol reclaimed by Indigenous communities across Turtle Island.
Through intimate interviews and personal stories, the film moves beyond the viral image to reveal the man behind the meme. There will be a Q&A afterwards. Tickets available at the door.

Grateful to have spoken at the Southwest Alberta Regional Economic Alliance AGM this week (their 25th anniversary!), connecting with colleagues representing 15 communities across our region.
I shared the story of Screen Lethbridge on behalf of Economic Development Lethbridge and update on ground work building a creative industries with a feasibility hub study (supported by NRED GOA Jobs Economy Trade & Immigration) exploring how film, interactive media, VR, game development and the broader creative economy can become a serious driver of jobs, investment, and talent retention across Southwest Alberta.
One of the themes of the night was how the best results come when we approach business attraction (in all industries) supporting each other regionally and provincially, not community by community. The City of Lethbridge will continue to become a great secondary hub for creative industries with the support of our wonderful provincial and federal partners.
