Fire Ban Update: Fire Ban Remains in Effect in Banff National Park

While the fire danger rating in Banff National Park is currently moderate, a fire ban remains in effect throughout the park.

Recent cooler temperatures and precipitation have helped reduce wildfire risk in some areas. However, there has not been enough sustained moisture to significantly reduce fire risk in larger, heavier fuels such as downed logs, deep forest litter, and woody debris on the forest floor.

These fuels can remain dry and capable of igniting long after rainfall and can contribute to fires that are difficult to detect and suppress.

Visitors are reminded that all prohibited activities remain prohibited under the current fire ban. We appreciate your cooperation as we continue to prioritize public safety and the protection of park ecosystems.
