Great weekend at the High Prairie Fish & Game Northern Lights Trapshoot. The weather held out for us to be able to complete the event without getting too wet. A huge thank you to all of our Shooters and volunteers. Many travel long distances to be with us. Rodney Smith was the HOA Winner. Jason Jackson, last year’s winner, presents Rodney with the HOA Trophy.

Please note that the Edmonton Gun Club will be closed to the public on Saturday, July 25, 2026 for a celebration of life.

We will reopen Sunday, July 26, with regular public shooting hours from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A huge Thank You to the Edmonton Gun Club and a well-trained staff for hosting the Championships and keeping the competitions going whether through stifling heat or punishing wind.

The Alberta Provincial Trapshooting Association held its AGM on Friday after the shooting stopped. Of note, the Members voted to fix the number of Directors on the Board at a maximum of nine. Art Peyton, Rod Hymas, Bob Gruszecki, Darin Schuller and Brian Maier were elected for further two year terms and after an absence of a few years, Carmen Jensen-Tebb returned to the Board. Jim Thomson was re-elected as ATA Delegate with Brad Johnson and Garry Hill being elected as First and Second Alternate, respectively and Tamara Hunt will serve as CTA Delegate for the year.

Following the AGM, the Directors held their Annual Meeting. Brad Johnson was returned as President, Bob Gruszecki as Vice-President and Treasurer, and Jim Thomson as Secretary. Due to there being fewer gun clubs throwing registered targets over the past several years, and shoot cancellations this year due to weather, the requirement to register targets at a minimum of three clubs in Alberta has been deleted from All-Star eligibility criteria.

Celebration of life for Irving Scott will be held at the EGC this Saturday July 25 beginning at 1:30pm
