Jumping on this trend! #2016 was an incredible, mind-blowing, career altering, year and one of the most difficult I’ve been through. I hosted two makeup classes partnering with Holts, was nominated for awards, my work was published in several magazines, and I was hired to travel to go to Mexico and Iceland for work, the first of my international travel as a makeup artist. I did more free work that year than any before, and earned more than ever before. I also went through a divorce, lost 30lbs, hired a personal trainer, played on a soccer and baseball team, and learned to golf! I also met the love of my life, though I have no photos of our first date at MKT that ended with salsa dancing at OTR. 2016 was a wild year of pain and growth. Glad I went through it. Happy its way in the past.

Goodbye 2025, hello 2026!
Looking back at last year from my new vantage point of January first, last year was a ride. High highs. Low lows.
It started with recovering from chemo, starting radiation, and beginning immunotherapy (going into menopause). Over this past year I went to Palm Springs, played golf without improving my game, went blonde, honed my management skills as I grew my team, and learned some tough entrepreneurial lessons.
Personally, I learned you could mail order chickens, read over 30 books, and pick up bouldering. I also hiked my second mountain!
2026 is looking up! Bookings are on track to double at the Pendennis, I’m so proud of the team I’m privileged to lead, and I’m going to Venice to scope out incredible luxury parties I’m planning on using as inspiration for parties we host at Pendennis. I’ve also signed up for a 50 km ultramarathon even though I haven’t run a race longer than 5 km.
Today I ran 1.5 km and my knee hurts so we’ll see how that goes.

We met at Holts randomly one day (she worked in menswear and I was doing Halloween makeup for YSL and popped in to pick up some product). She invited me to join her and a friend for lunch because she’s always so welcoming and friendly and it’s just who she is. That was 2016. It’s been NINE YEARS. We’ve been friends ever since and in 2021 we started working together. If anyone tells you it’s a bad idea to work with friends, they are wrong. It’s the best. .pilz is so fun, positive, hardworking, honest, loving, supportive, and an all-around good human. I’m so lucky to live my life with her. This is a no-reason post just like last night we had no reason to go out. I just wanted to shout out one of the most amazing woman I know. Also, we looked cute last night.

Some nights are so magical and you don’t see them coming. I’d love to live in a city in Spain or France where I can sit on a patio every evening with friends, sipping wine from a small glass, eating tapas, and having deep conversations that fill my soul. I might live in Canada but some days I still get that exact experience. Sunday night was one of them.

An epic weekend celebrating turning 40. I’m no hiking expert but that was a hard one. Now that I’m safely on flat ground again I can say, that was SO FUN!!
