“On behalf of Basketball BC, I am proud to share the attached report that highlights the powerful and lasting impact of the KidSport program for our Basketball BC Club Members during the 2025 calendar year.
We are incredibly proud of the role KidSport continues to play in helping remove financial barriers for basketball families across our province.
It’s important to note: KidSport funding is available exclusively to Basketball BC Club Members, reinforcing the value of being part of our provincial basketball community.
We extend our sincere thanks to KidSport BC, its local chapters, and the many donors and volunteers who continue to make this impact possible. Together, we’re ensuring more kids have the opportunity to play, grow, and thrive through basketball.”
Sincerely,
Shawn Dheensaw, Executive Director

Basketball BC, in partnership with Canada Basketball, is pleased to announce the launch of the British Columbia Scholastic Basketball League (BCSBL).
The BCSBL is designed to provide premier, high-performance development and competition opportunities for athletes based in British Columbia, reducing the need for relocation to other provinces or the United States to access elite-level programming.
The league will initially launch in September 2026 with a Boys Division for student-athletes in Grades 10–12.
The BCSBL will operate within a best-on-best framework, creating meaningful exposure opportunities for athletes to compete in front of collegiate coaches during the season, while also supporting participation in sanctioned high school events across Canada and the United States.
A Request for Proposals (RFP) will be published on the Basketball BC website on May 26, 2026, inviting interested schools and organizations to apply. In advance of the RFP release, interested parties are encouraged to contact Matt McKay at [email protected] for additional information regarding program requirements.
