The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) authority continues to report Business Email Compromise (BEC), sometimes referred to as payment redirection fraud, as one of the leading sources of fraud losses for businesses. In these situations, someone impersonates a legitimate vendor and requests updated banking information. If the change is processed without verification, the next payment may be redirected.

The good news is this: prevention comes down to process. A few consistent internal steps can significantly reduce risk.

On at least a monthly basis, you should ensure that your bank transactions are fully accounted for. Bank reconciliation is the primary feature of Adagio BankRec.
To access the reconciliation process, click the Recon button on the toolbar, or start it via Bank Inquiry. Then choose the bank you want to reconcile. The grid displays all transactions that are still outstanding. Records can be sorted by cheque reference, date, or amount. If you want to reverse cheques rather than perform a complete reconciliation, edit the check and change its status to Reversed. Reversing cheques will generate ledger entries and restore paid invoices. To choose the GL fiscal period updated by the reversal, select a date in the Reversal Options area. one click can select the same date as the cheque.
If the cheque was for a cash invoice from a payables vendor, you can enable an option in Payables to allow reversing the invoice portion along with the cheque.

How does it work?
The Canada Tariff Finder enables Canadian businesses to check import or export tariffs for specific goods and markets, with a focus on countries with which Canada has a Free Trade Agreement.

The tool shows the tariff rates generally applicable to all nations. It also shows the preferential rates applicable to Canada when a Free Trade Agreement is in place, including the phasing-out period of such tariffs when applicable.

The tool can also be used to compare tariffs for up to three different countries or products. It simplifies this search by suggesting products that match the keyword(s) or Harmonized System (HS) code entered. At the end of the search, the results can be printed or received by email.
