Su Casa Rescue
Su Casa Rescue is a non profit organization assisting dogs, cats and kittens one animal at a time. We'd love for you to join our Su Casa Rescue family.
Su Casa Rescue was stood up in October 2013 by Alana realizing there was more that could be done for the pups of California. We joined Facebook in January 2014 to gain more exposure and sharing for the pups in need of our help. With sharing and liking our page many babies have found their forever homes and will never know the stone cold floor of a Shelter again. Since then we have been called upon

For your information 🥴
A heartbreaking reminder as temperatures rise: a dog in our community died last night after going for a lengthy walk in the sun yesterday.
Heat stroke can happen faster than many people realize, even on days that don't seem excessively hot. To keep pets safe:
• Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.
• Bring water and take frequent breaks.
• Avoid strenuous exercise in warm weather.
• Never leave pets in a parked vehicle.
• Remember that pavement can burn paws and radiate heat.
Signs of heat stroke include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, weakness, vomiting, disorientation, collapse, or seizures.
If you suspect heat stroke:
• Move your pet to a cool, shaded area immediately. Ideally, have a fan pointed at them.
• Offer cool water, but do not force them to drink.
• Place your pet in a cool bath or shower but avoid submerging their head. Avoid covering them with wet towels as this can “over-cool” them.
• Seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
Heat stroke is a medical emergency. When in doubt, call a veterinarian right away.

As we begin a new week, take a moment to appreciate the unconditional love our pets give us every day. 💛
Unfortunately I recovered a deceased black and white medium hair un-neutered young male, no chip, no tattoo who had been hit by a car on Hwy 18 between Tansor and Drinkwater Rd(s) heading towards Hwy 1. He was recovered a couple of hours ago.
I have some pictures but will not post here due to their graphic nature💔
This sweet soul has been taken to Warmland Animal Clinic and can be claimed by contacting them if he has a guardian.
Rest in Paradise sweet boy. I shall call you Bandit. Your life mattered💔❤️💔
Today is our 74th Sunday Bottle Drive for our community animals that cannot speak for themselves in Honeymoon Bay Lake Cowichan Mesachie Lake Cowichan and Youbou.
Thanks for all of this support. Whether you share our posts, donate funds, donate refundables, donate Country Grocer receipts (till tapes)....we appreciate the community support. Without you there is no US❤️
Refundables can always be dropped at the gate at 7921 Cowichan Lake Rd. Please note that we have a shared driveway with our neighbour. Please DO NOT park on the right hand side of the gate. That is not our property. Pickup is available by calling or texting 250-380-8324. Messenger is not a reliable communication tool so please text or call 😀 I'll be running down to Vic for pickups and will be back by noon😀
Again, thank you for your kindness, you are making a difference for these fur babies that need you ❤️
Our Year Round Bottle Drive, as well as our Sunday Community Drives goes towards the goal of containers collected. Our Year runs from 1 July-30 June. We are creeping closer and just may reach our goal of 500,000 refundable containers this year! We've had this goal for many years but have yet to attain it.
We'll keep you posted 😯

And now we know🤔
🦎When you think of dental procedures, a bearded dragon probably isn’t the first patient that comes to mind- but here we are!
This sweet, bearded dragon originally came to see us for chronic conjunctivitis (eye inflammation). During her examination, however, we discovered the underlying issue was actually dental disease.
Under anesthesia, Dr. Bell performed a careful scale and polish of her teeth to remove buildup and help address the source of infection that was contributing to her eye problems.
So, what makes reptile teeth different?
Bearded dragons have acrodont dentition, which means their teeth are fused directly to the jawbone and are not replaced throughout their lifetime. Unlike dogs and cats, they don’t get a second set of teeth- so damage and dental disease can be permanent and may progress if left untreated.
The takeaway? Dental health isn’t just important for cats and dogs. Many species, including reptiles, can develop dental disease that impacts their overall health and quality of life.
We’re fortunate to have veterinarians like Dr. Bell who are passionate about caring for such a wide variety of patients, from furry companions to scaled friends.
If you ever have concerns about your pet’s oral health-yes, even your reptile! -our team is always happy to help guide you in the right direction.

Thank you to Casey & Co Pet Supply for continuing to support the community as well as the rescues. Admiral Poo-tato is looking for love and the best possible fit to live out his golden years.
Due to his age and his current status he is not a candidate for any further surgeries (including dental). His care will include pain and infection management in accordance with his vet's recommendations.
Poo treats everyone he meets as a new friend. Additionally all who meet him, love him right back ❤️
This little throw away pup will make the perfect human the equally perfect companion.
If this may be you, email [email protected]
Thanks so much and thank you Shannon for your continued support ❤️
For all the folks who expressed interest in Poo since his intake at the CRD Pound end March 2026 and his transfer to us in April please do reach out if you are still interested in this handsome gent ❤️
