It's hard to sum up a decade of passion.

We can sum it up in one word though: gratitude.

Meg and I are full of gratitude for the last decade of running Alongside You. Here's to the next 10 years.

When you go out in nature, and nature shows up.

Fun fact: I used to be a photographer. I started in landscapes and then shot weddings. Loved both - and whale watching is sort of a great combo of both - one shot to get the image, against a gorgeous backdrop.

Amazing day on the water. Super grateful, and can’t wait to look at the rest of the images from today.

100% - and yet it is so hard for us, in our humanity, to respond this way to the suffering of others.

Today was special - I got to see someone who has loved on our kids and been a part of our family for years marry the love of her life.

It was an honour and a privilege to officiate today for you, and - may your days be full of joy, love, respect, and growth.

I also seem to get the brides with the best hair colours!

Perspective is everything.

This is the view from our dining room to the side of our yard. The buttercups have officially taken over my lawn. This has been driving me bonkers for a few years. I’ve replaced our lawn twice in the 19 years we’ve owned the house.

The truth is, I’m still sad about the loss of our dog. It shows up at strange times and in strange ways. But it’s still there.

And I’m grateful for her and the time we had with her. And I’m grateful for this view right now.

Her name was Buttercup.

Some things in life are worth waiting for.

My good friend Jay Duncan shared an image with me of a guitar that we’ve been dreaming of together for….well, we won’t say how long 😂

Some day I’ll go into a more long-winded explanation of music, healing, and all the cool things about duncanafrica and some of the stuff we’ve collaborated on.

For now - I really needed this image today. This week has been hard. Music has always been my saving grace - ironically, it’s actually what I’m best at, and what comes most naturally to me in life.

It’s also what I turn to when I don’t have the language to express what’s happening in my heart and my soul. There have been a lot of moments this week where I don’t have the words.

And music brings me so much joy, even in the midst of sorrow - and I really needed something to be excited about today. I’m really excited about this guitar.

When I get it in my hands, I’ll go into all the details for you guitar nerds.

For now, I’m grateful for music, for the excitement I have about this guitar, and for the amazing human and friend that I have in Jay who makes beautiful things that I can make beautiful music with
