What a great day for our Jiblicker event! A stunning October afternoon greeted the field, and our players responded with some exceptional golf and great camaraderie throughout the day!

Congratulations to Carson Wallace and Victor Ciesielski on being named finalists for this year’s PGA of Ontario Awards.

Carson has been recognized as a finalist for Retailer of the Year for his outstanding leadership and commitment to excellence at Deer Ridge Golf Club, while Victor has been named a Teacher of the Year finalist for his dedication to player development and coaching excellence.

Congratulations to Ray and Jake!

The Rob Moore Alternate Shot Final was contested between Jake McGuire & Ray Garneau against Mike Gingrich & Jim Farwell. The match was dominated mid-round by Garneau and McGuire, but Farwell and Gingrich mounted a late comeback that ultimately fell just short. In the end, Garneau and McGuire prevailed, securing the title with a 2 & 1 victory.

Today is International Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day! All of us at Deer Ridge want to recognize and thank our superintendent, Marco China. Marco and his team work tirelessly every day to provide us with an exceptional golf course. This year, he’s going a step further by sharing his knowledge through his very first Course Agronomy Tour.

Our own Mary Anne Witzel participated in the 2025 CPKc Women’s Open at Pre Event and Pro Am. She told us “It was an unbelievable experience. Had the best time!!”

Mary Anne shared with us re the Pre Event: “There were only a few pros at cocktail party and we were just standing around talking and Lexi (Thompson) came over to us and started chatting - she couldn’t have been nicer.”

For the Pro Am, Mary Anne and her caddy Jimmy Walker played with Chisato Iwai on the front nine and Madeline Sangstrom on the back. “Our pros were really friendly and supportive. Chisato is a rookie from Japan and she and her twin sister have both won on the tour this year. Madeline has been on tour for about 10 years - she is very professional and friendly”, Mary Anne said.

Mary Anne had to play the 5,600+tees. “It was one best net ball so it was hard for me to contribute much but I managed a couple holes.” We knew Mary Anne would represent Deer Ridge well and make us proud!
