Confined-space inspection inside a live subsea pipe, 80 meters down, isn't a job for a diver or a standard work class ROV. Frontier Subsea solved it by turning their work class vehicle into a bus driver for something much smaller.

The plan: mount the PIVOT ROV directly onto the front of the host WROV and let it carry the payload through the splash zone and down to depth, where the PIVOT could fly free inside a 36-inch, 65-meter pipe full of bends and debris.

As Senior Subsea Engineer Aaron Lee put it: once it's at the pipe, the PIVOT handles the work with no issues. The hard part is the transport, and that's exactly what the host ROV was there to solve.
