The video begins with capturing mainline railway action from Southern Ontario at famed Bayview Junction in Burlington where some morning CN trains are filmed. From there the footage shifts to CP’s Aberdeen Yard in Hamilton where several brand new CP AC4400CW’s are seen having just been delivered from the GE plant in Erie, Pennsylvania. These units were part of an order numbered 9500-9582 that were delivered from August-October 1995 and were painted in the duel flags paint scheme. The video continues with scenes on CP’s Galt Subdivision at Guelph Jct. and then a return to Bayview Junction a week later as well as the town of Paris on CN’s Dundas Subdivision.

This is a video filmed from September 9, 1995 to September 30, 1995. The video begins with capturing mainline railway action from Southern Ontario at Hamilton West in Hamilton where several CN trains are filmed on the Dundas Subdivision. The footage continues on CN’s Guelph Subdivision at Kitchener where CN train 431 is filmed climbing the grade out of the city. Then on September 11, a morning westbound is seen at the same location with CN extra 9595 west moving preserved 4-6-4 “Hudson” class steam locomotive 5700 from the previous weekend CN Family Day events at MacMillan Yard in Vaughan, Ontario where it was displayed. The vintage steamer was returning to its home in St. Thomas at the historic Elgin County Railway Museum across the Guelph Subdivision to London. The train is filmed at Kitchener, west of New Hamburg crossing the highway to Stratford and then at the historic Stratford station. At Stratford, 5700 was stopped at the station beside local CN job 516. Here, the steam engine received some maintenance before continuing west. It also allowed our videographer, Al Wendt, to tour the cab and even take a couple minutes to sit in the engineer’s seat before the train departs the festival city.
The video footage continues of a CN re-routed laser train heading west through Kitchener and train 431 heading west, before shifting to Hamilton West once again as well as famed Bayview Junction in Burlington where several CN and CP trains are filmed.
This footage was captured by former CN employee, railfan, videographer, photographer and model railroader Al Wendt and is copyrighted and used with permission.

This is a video filmed on August 9, 1995 of a cab ride onboard the CN 15:30 Kitchener Job as it journeys on the weedy Waterloo Spur from Kitchener, Ontario to the town of Elmira. Powering the assignment was a CN GP9RM with engineer Dennis Fleet at the throttle and brakeman Brad Toomath. In the video the job has just entered the Waterloo Spur in Kitchener as it approaches Weber Street and heads north to Elmira with a short train. The local traverses downtown Waterloo and Waterloo Park. At that time, the nearby CP Waterloo Subdivision was previously abandoned into Waterloo during 1993, and both railways crossed the intersection of Caroline and Erb streets side by side. However, in this video some of the former CP trackage was still visible on the other side of the crossing near Waterloo Park. The video continues as the CN local travels through the industrial area of north Waterloo and then past the farmers market and into the village of St. Jacobs.
Here the train passes the future Waterloo-St. Jacobs Railway’s (WSJR) first piece of passenger equipment they had acquired. At this point, WSJR’s planned excursion service was still almost two years away from commencing operations on the spur during the summer of 1997. More than 30 years later, today the car still calls the Waterloo Spur home, now in the employ of the Waterloo Central Railway. It is former CN track geometry car #15000 and was built by CC&F in 1923 as sleeper car #1570- “Jellicoe.” In July 1973, CN had converted it into a track geometry car.
Eventually, the train reaches the end of the line in Elmira where the crew would get to work, running around their train before switching the industries, including Sulco, Nutrite and Uniroyal Chemical.
This footage was captured by former CN employee, railfan, videographer, photographer and model railroader Al Wendt and is copyrighted and used with permission.

One notable CN eastbound is seen powered with two brand new SD70I’s that were just released that same month from the GMDD plant in London.
