Giving parents and educators a second chance at autism treatment with RDI. Over the years I have tried many various therapies and protocols.

I have been working with special needs children for over 21 years, my journey began with my own children. My first experience was a lesson in advocating as a parent, finding my voice and developing my resolve and stamina in the face of the most emotionally driven crisis of my life… parenting not 1 but 2 kids with very unique special needs. I learned that if I tried to do too many things at one tim

• Why behaviour alone does not explain many of the developmental challenges experienced by individuals with autism
• The key developmental systems that support flexible thinking, emotional regulation, and dynamic communication
• How focusing only on behaviour can unintentionally limit long-term growth and independence
• The 14 core attributes that support autonomy, meaningful relationships, and lifelong well-being
• How everyday interactions between parents and children can become powerful developmental learning opportunities
• The role professionals can play in guiding parents to become effective developmental guides for their children
• How a developmental approach such as Relationship Development Intervention® (RDI®) builds the foundations for flexible thinking, resilience, and real-world problem solving
• Why developing the mind — not simply managing behaviour — is essential for long-term quality of life

This webinar is open to both parents and professionals who are interested in developmental approaches that support authentic growth and independence.

Podcast #9: The Great Divide in Clinical Intervention 02/18/2026

I’m sharing a thoughtful and important conversation from Dr. Steven Gutstein called The Great Divide in Clinical Intervention.

In this episode, he gently explores a question many of us have wondered about: Why does autism research often sound so different from what happens in clinical practice?

Today’s research is increasingly focused on mental development, intrinsic motivation, agency, relationships, and how growth unfolds within meaningful social experiences. At the same time, many intervention models still emphasize observable behaviors and external reinforcement.

Dr. Steven Gutstein invites us to reflect on something deeper:

• What truly drives long-term growth?
• How do we nurture motivation from within?
• What outcomes actually matter when we think about adulthood — independence, friendships, resilience, wellbeing?

This isn’t about criticizing any one approach. It’s about asking whether our practices are aligned with what we now understand about human development.

If you’re a parent or professional who cares about meaningful, lifelong outcomes — this conversation is worth your time.

I’d love to hear what resonates with you.

Parents and Autism in 2026 01/13/2026

Parenting an autistic child right now can feel like drinking from a firehose 🚿
So much information. So many “experts.” So much pressure to do more.

In this episode of Autism: A New Perspective, I had a heartfelt conversation with Kat Lee about what autism parenting really feels like in 2026 — and why parents deserve to be back in the driver’s seat.

We talk about overwhelm, permission to slow down, doing less on purpose, and how RDI® helped me move out of crisis and into confidence. Whether your child is 2 or 22, this conversation is for you.

Starting RDI is a leap of faith — not just in the program, but in yourself.
Most parents come in wondering, “Do I really have what it takes to guide my child?”
And the answer is YES — even if it doesn’t feel like it yet.

In RDI, we expect those feelings of fear and inadequacy. They show up right at the edge of growth — for you and your child.

Our work is a parallel process:
Your consultant guides you.
You guide your child.
Everyone learns one manageable step at a time.

With scaffolding and personalized supports, children begin taking more initiative, staying regulated, embracing uncertainty, and solving problems with you.

You don’t need to be ten steps ahead.
Just one.
And we build the rest together. 💛
