About 44 Gaukel
44 Gaukel is Kitchenerβs first and only arts and technology hub. This creative community is the result of a partnership between ArtsBuild Ontario, a provincial arts service organization dedicated to realizing long-term solutions for arts and creative spaces and The Accelerator Centre, a technology incubator dedicated to building and scaling globally-competitive technology. The facility is supported in part by the City of Kitchener.
44 Gaukel is located in the heart of downtown Kitchener and features 10,000 square feet of space shared between the tech makerspaces of the Accelerator Centre and ArtsBuild Ontario and local arts and culture organizations operating in Waterloo Region. 44 Gaukel provides a unique opportunity for artists/organizations to come together with the tech world to create a new creative community, foster cross-sectoral partnerships and be an example of innovative space-sharing practice in the Waterloo region and beyond.
The building also houses a professional gallery space on the second floor. The O Gallery @ 44 Gaukel provides public exhibition space for emerging and community artists of all levels in the City of Kitchener. The O Gallery offers just over 235β of hallway wall space with both a shelf and hanging system for a diverse display of artwork.
44 Gaukel has two unique spaces that can be rented at below market level. The rentable Rehearsal Space is a 735 square foot rehearsal studio, outfitted with laid Rosco floors, stage curtains and full length mirrors. The Community Space is also available for rent by the community during evenings and weekend and is 322.8 sq. ft.. This fun, boardroom-style space is the perfect spot for your next AGM, workshop, monthly meet-up or brainstorming session! Both spaces book at $8.00 + HST/hour.
