Why do you hike the Rideau Trail? Share your story with us!

RTA members taking a break in the middle of our 40 km cycle of the Cataraqui Trail earlier today. A Kingston club group left from Perth Road Village and a Central club group from Portland. We met in the middle for lunch and homemade ice cream at the historic Opinicon Restaurant, located at lovely Chaffey’s Lock. It was hot but manageable.

Relocation of a Boot Brush Station in Murphys Point Provincial Park to the Black Anse Point entrance (Waypoint 09A). Boot Brush Stations are a useful tool to stop the spread of invasive species between environments. The RTA thanks its Work Party volunteers for helping to keep the trail in optimal shape.

Kingston and Ottawa Club members completed the 9.6 km Kingston Blue Route earlier on June 7, from Waypoint 01A in Confederation Park via the K&P Trail to Waypoint 01E in the Sydenham Rd parking lot. A pleasant day for a hike, good company and another step closer to the Blue Trails Challenge badge!

Registration is open for the Hike Ontario Summit in September. It will be held in Westport this year and the RTA is hosting it.
