I often describe myself as a content writer only because I feel that it adds depth to what I do, however, writers alike know that we must be good at both content and copy to be successful in our craft.

WE-CAN Client Profile: Kimberley Falk is a Kingston journalist, writer, and owner of Write Whale which provides content to businesses and organizations locally and around the world. She is also a recent participant in the LEAD Program delivered by Invest Kingston as a part of the WE-CAN Project.
With a varied background in writing, accounting and law, Kimberley’s passion has always been to write, leading her to freelance full-time in 2018 and open her business Write Whale a year later.
“I have struggled with keeping my cash flow consistent and feeling assured in the service I provide to my clients,” says Kimberley, “Through my writing with various publications in the Kingston area, my connections brought to me the idea of taking part in the WE-CAN project as a resource to build my confidence and network with like-minded business owners, especially women leaders in the community.”
Kimberley has enjoyed being able to make long-term connections in such a short period of time through the LEAD Program, and the weekly meetups were manageable with her workload and previous commitments in the community.
“Being able to connect with other women provided me with the chance to hear their stories and how they were able to overcome the challenges they faced to build a business,” she shares.
“As a participant of the LEAD program, I felt that the purpose of my business was valued and that everyone genuinely wanted to support me in their own way,” adds Kimberley, who plans on taking more programs offered through the WE-CAN project in the future.
“It’s such an exceptional program and I feel privileged that I was able to take part, meet so many amazing people, gain incredible insight from guest speakers, and use everything I gained as I continue pushing myself and my career as a writer.”
