GreenStep and HI Canada partner to advance sustainability in Canadian hostels - GreenStep GreenStep and Hostelling International Canada have launched a partnership to strengthen sustainability measurement and develop a long-term strategy supporting responsible travel across Canada’s hostel network.

🌱 A silver step forward for sustainable tourism. Congratulations to RTO8 and Kawarthas Northumberland on earning Silver Destination Certification through GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism Destination Standard.

This milestone recognizes meaningful progress in balancing tourism growth with environmental protection, cultural preservation, and community well-being. With a new Sustainability Action Plan guiding the next three years, the region is strengthening its visitor economy while protecting what makes Kawarthas Northumberland special for generations to come.

🌍 GreenStep has announced the launch of Destination360, a comprehensive suite of services designed to help destinations and DMOs measure, plan, and accelerate their sustainability and climate action efforts.

Destination360 gives organizations the framework to embed sustainability into their own strategies and operations, along with the tools and programs to extend meaningful action across their entire destination.

This new partnership brings together the Rainbow Registered and Sustainable Tourism Pathway programs to support tourism businesses champion inclusion, sustainability, and community impact.

🌱 Last week at the Tourism Industry Association of Manitoba Advocacy Forum, GreenStep’s Angela Nagy led a presentation and workshop on Building a Sustainable Future for Manitoba Tourism.

The session explored what sustainable and regenerative tourism truly means and guided participants through the process of conducting a sustainability assessment, and learning how to measure, implement, and share all aspects of sustainability within their tourism business.

A big thank-you to TIAM for hosting us and to all attendees who joined the conversation on building a more sustainable tourism future for Manitoba!
