Roxanne Kennedy attended the Canadian Meetings + Events Expo in Toronto earlier this month.

Meet in Kamloops invests in this show because CMEE is different. With 500 companies and 3,000 attendees, every single person on that floor is a verified meeting, event, or incentive planner.

This year we went as part of Outside the Box BC, our destination partnership with Meet in Nanaimo and Meet in Penticton. Splitting the cost three ways changes the math:

✏️More buying power. A national presence alongside Canada's biggest cities, at a fraction of what it would cost to go it alone.

✏️A stronger pitch. Planners get a multi-year rotation across three of BC's best riverside, oceanside, and lakeside destinations instead of a single option.

✏️ A smarter budget. Lower travel and marketing costs for each of us, without losing reach or relationships on the floor.

YKA LINK is a new alliance working to grow air service at Kamloops Airport (YKA) and position our region as a central gateway to BC's interior.

The initiative brings together Kamloops Airport, Destination BC, the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association, Tourism Kamloops, Tourism Sun Peaks, the City of Kamloops, and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, all working toward the same goal: new and expanded air routes, and stronger regional connectivity.

For meeting and event planners, that translates directly into fewer barriers between your delegates and Kamloops. More air service options mean more flexibility when you're building a travel plan, and a stronger regional network means Kamloops keeps becoming easier to reach from more places.

We will keep you posted as new routes and connections come online. In the meantime, our team is here to help you plan around what's available today.

Meeting in Kamloops just got more rewarding.

Bring your program to Kamloops during shoulder season and we will put cash back in your budget. Our incentive program offers $10 back per room night for qualifying groups, on top of everything else our team does to make your planning process smoother.

Here's how it works:

Minimum 10 rooms on peak and 75 room nights cumulative on conference dates
Program dates between October 1 and April 30
Must be new business, with your RFP submitted through Tourism Kamloops
Reimbursement applies to room nights booked within your official block, for conference dates only

It's one more way we support planners from bid to ex*****on. Reach out to our Business Events team to see if your program qualifies, and let's build something great together.

There's nothing like connecting face-to-face with planners from across the country.

Last week, Outside The Box BC touched down in Toronto for the 2026 Canadian Meetings + Events Expo, sharing what makes Kamloops, Nanaimo, and Penticton such a smart (and refreshingly simple) choice for your next conference.

We loved swapping stories with our planning partners and reminding the room that BC's meeting sweet spots are worth the trip.

Thanks for having us, Toronto. Until next time!

Welcome, Chillerpillar!

Kamloops is ready to shuffle up. From August 14 to 16, Thompson Rivers University hosts the Chillerpillar, a full weekend of Magic the Gathering events bringing planeswalkers together from near and far.

Whether you are here for a Commander pod, a competitive draft, or just to watch the top tables battle it out, welcome to Kamloops. Grab a coffee downtown between rounds, refuel at a local spot, and enjoy a campus that makes it easy to focus on what matters this weekend: the games.

Planning a meeting or event in Kamloops? Here are three questions we hear a lot.

Where do you fly into Kamloops? Kamloops Airport (YKA) connects directly to Vancouver, Calgary, and Victoria, about 3.5 hours by road from Vancouver or 2 hours from Kelowna.

Is Kamloops too small for my meeting? Not at all. Our venues scale from intimate boardrooms to 30,000 square foot ballrooms, including the Coast Kamloops Hotel & Conference Centre and Thompson Rivers University Conference Centre.

What group activities can we build into our event? Private tours at the BC Wildlife Park, snowshoeing excursions, wine tastings along the Thompson Valley wine trail, and back alley art gallery tours are all easy to add.

Have a planning question of your own? Send it our way.

Roxanne Kennedy will represent Meet in Kamloops at the Canadian Meetings & Events Expo (CMEE) in Toronto on August 11-12.

As Canada's largest gathering of corporate, association, and independent event planners, CMEE gives us a direct line to national decision-makers actively sourcing host destinations. Participating in CMEE ensures Kamloops stays top-of-mind, helping us secure qualified group business, boost hotel occupancy, and generate real economic impact for local businesses.

We’re proud to attend alongside our partners in Outside the Box BC—a collaboration with Meet in Nanaimo and Meet in Penticton. By pooling our resources, we maximize budget efficiency while offering national planners multi-year rotation options across BC.

Are you attending CMEE? Connect with Roxanne at the show or send us a message to schedule a meeting.

📍Secwépemc Museum & Heritage Park

A guided cultural tour at the Secwépemc Museum & Heritage Park offers delegates the chance to connect with the rich history and living culture of the Secwépemc people, the nation on whose territory Kamloops is situated.

Led by a knowledgeable guide, the tour walks visitors through thoughtfully curated galleries covering clothing, hunting and fishing, and tools. It's an experience that stays with people long after the conference ends, and one that adds genuine depth and meaning to any program.

Take your team off-site, and onto the lake. 🌊

Bruker Marina at Kamloops Lake has everything from kayaks and paddleboards to Sea-Doos and pontoon boats, making it one of the most fun team-building add-ons you can build into your program.

The case for a shoulder-season meeting.💼

Meet in Kamloops offers planners $10 back per room night for programs running October 1 through April 30.

Shoulder season means hotel blocks are easier to secure, vendor calendars have more breathing room, and your program gets more personal attention from everyone involved.

Reach out to our team to find out if your event qualifies.

📊 Incentive conditions apply. RFP must be submitted through Tourism Kamloops.
