Yesterday, David Eby released a statement attacking the pipeline MOU signed between Alberta and the federal government.
After years of delays, red tape, and anti-resource activism, Canada could finally be closer to getting our energy to tidewater, creating jobs, strengthening our economy, and reducing our dependence on the United States.
But instead of supporting Canadian workers, the NDP is trying to block progress yet again.
David Eby wasn’t even in the room when Alberta and the federal government negotiated a deal that will have major implications for British Columbia.
He also failed to secure meaningful support for BC’s forestry sector, which was mostly left out of federal relief funding for industries impacted by U.S. tariffs.
And now, David Eby is trying to shame Alberta Premier Danielle Smith for standing up for Alberta workers and Canadian resource jobs.
Here’s the truth:
The real threat to national unity is David Eby’s anti-resource agenda.
I’m a proud federalist. I believe Alberta, British Columbia, and all Canadians are stronger when we work together as partners in Confederation.
But Western alienation is real. Albertans have every right to feel frustrated after years of attacks on their industries, jobs, and livelihoods from activist politicians in Ottawa and Victoria.
British Columbia has an important role to play in keeping Canada united, and that means supporting responsible resource development, not sabotaging it.
A new pipeline would create thousands of good-paying jobs in BC, generate billions in economic activity, and strengthen Canada’s future.
British Columbians deserve a Premier who will stand up for our province and work constructively with other provinces and the federal government to advance our shared interests.
When I was Mayor of Kamloops, I fought for the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion and pushed back against activists trying to shut it down.
I will always stand with BC workers, tradespeople, families, and communities who depend on our resource economy.
It’s the Premier’s job to negotiate the best deal for British Columbians.
David Eby has abdicated that responsibility in pursuit of appeasing an activist wing of his caucus that would rather block major projects than grow B.C.’s economy.
As Premier, I will always stand up for British Columbia’s interests. That means working with the federal government and Alberta to get a pipeline to tidewater built, strengthen our economy, and create good-paying jobs across the province.

In case you missed it today, I hosted a Virtual Town Hall with Conservative MLA Lorne Doerkson, Cariboo Chilcotin.
We had an important conversation about the challenges facing our province and the practical solutions needed to get BC back on track.
Thank you to everyone who joined and took part. You can watch the full discussion to see what a better path forward for BC can look like.

We have seen too many projects in this province delayed or turned down for ideological reasons instead of being judged on their economic benefits, environmental standards, and the jobs they create.
As Premier, I will work with Danielle Smith, other provincial leaders, and the federal government to get pipelines and major projects built again.
I will also repeal the tanker ban so British Columbia can expand our energy exports.

Joined fellow Kamloops MLA Ward Stamer in Kamloops last night.
People across the Interior want a government that understands their communities, their industries, and the unique challenges they face. As Mayor of Kamloops, I’ve spent my career standing up for the Interior and making sure our voice is heard.
I’m ready to be a Premier from the Interior of BC who represents every region of this province and brings British Columbians together.
Lorne Doerkson, MLA for Cariboo-Chilcotin, is on Team Peter Milobar!
Lorne Doerkson, has represented Cariboo-Chilcotin in the BC Legislature since 2020. Before entering provincial politics, he spent decades ranching in the South Cariboo and was deeply involved in agriculture and community organizations, giving him firsthand experience with the challenges facing rural British Columbia. In Victoria, he has been a strong voice for resource communities, ranchers, farmers, and economic development across the Interior.
Lorne brings practical experience, common sense, and a deep understanding of rural BC to the fight for a stronger economy and more affordable future.

It was great to be in Prince George yesterday with MLA Kiel Giddens , meeting with supporters and hearing directly about the issues that matter most to people across Northern BC.
From conversations about affordability and public safety to the importance of resource jobs and local opportunity, it’s clear people want practical, common-sense solutions that strengthen communities and support families.
If you want change, we must win.
Polling consistently shows that I’m the only candidate who beats the NDP and wins a Conservative majority in a general election.
As Premier, I will repeal DRIPA, get our economy booming again, and bring hope back to BC.
