Full cabinetry does the heavy lifting. It maximizes storage, keeps pantry items enclosed, and protects dishware from daily dust and cooking grease. Floating shelves work best as targeted accents. Tucked into a coffee bar, set beside a window, or placed in a pantry, they break up long runs of cabinetry and give you a clean spot to display everyday pieces.

Kraig is a 4th-year carpenter apprentice who recently made the move to Kamloops alongside his girlfriend, Shauna, and their two dogs, Ruby and Luna.

Before getting into the trades, Kraig spent years working as a chef. That culinary background built a strong foundation for craftsmanship, sharp attention to detail, and taking pride in creating something people truly enjoy.

When he's off the clock, you'll usually find him out on the trails mountain biking in the summer, hitting the slopes snowboarding in the winter, or spending time with Shauna and the dogs.

For Kraig, the best part of carpentry is helping homeowners experience their space in a completely new way, whether that's relaxing on a custom outdoor living area or enjoying a transformed bathroom. We are thrilled to have his detail-oriented mindset and passion for quality on our team! Welcome to the team, Kraig!

Meet Kristina Walker, the backbone of our day-to-day operations.

Drawing from a strong background in administrative and medical support, she brings exceptional organization, razor-sharp attention to detail, and seamless workflow management to the Live Timber team.
Having navigated significant personal medical challenges over the years, Kristina carries a deep sense of resilience, genuine empathy, and a remarkably grounded perspective. Whether she’s solving a scheduling puzzle or helping a client navigate their project timeline, she approaches everyone with warmth, care, and practical support.
When she wraps up the office workflows for the week, Kristina loves channeling her creativity into drawing and painting. During the warmer months, you can usually find her spending her summers out in her garden and working in her greenhouse, or simply winding down at home around a firepit with her partner and their dog, Odin.

Meet Elliot, a core member of our on-site construction team.
Elliot brings a calm, laid-back energy to every job site he steps onto, but don't let his easygoing nature fool you, he is fiercely focused on the task at hand. He’s the kind of employee who naturally notices the small details that others might gloss over. Elliot approaches craftsmanship with a humble mindset: show up, work hard, and find a way to learn something new or hone a skill every single day.
His commitment to quality and steady growth makes him an essential part of the Live Timber crew, ensuring that every frame, trim, and finish meets our highest standards.
When the tools are packed away for the weekend, Elliot heads straight for the wild. A true outdoorsman at heart, he spends his free time hiking local trails, dropping a line in the water to fish, or simply recharging while taking in the stunning landscapes of beautiful British Columbia.

This is David, our Site Supervisor and lead Red Seal Carpenter. If you have been on a Live Timber jobsite over the past three years than you have most likely seen David work his magic.

Originally hailing from Vanderhoof in Northern BC, David has proudly called Kamloops home for over a decade. He began his journey in the carpentry trade back in 2006 and earned his Red Seal certification in 2010. With two decades of experience under his belt, David has worked across virtually every facet of the industry—from the heavy lifting of pouring initial concrete foundations to the precise art of fitting delicate interior finishings.

As site supervisor, David ensures our job sites run seamlessly, safely, on schedule and built to the highest standard. His attention to detail and craftsmanship are impeccable. He is not one to stop learning and is constantly expanding his skill set, with a current focus on improving jobsite efficiencies and integrating modern, energy-efficient building techniques into our projects. He plays a vital role in the company and I am incredibly grateful to be able to work along side him. He has been a great mentor and teacher to myself and our apprentices.

Off the clock, David keeps busy with a mix of creative hobbies and outdoor adventures with his family. You might find him mastering the art of sourdough bread baking or enjoying a quiet video game night, but most weekends are spent heading outdoors to enjoy what Kamloops has to offer with his wife Autumn and their two kids, Adelyn and Quinn. And on top of all that he is always making time to renovate his own home so that his family has a comfortable and enjoyable space to call home.

I thought it was time to introduce myself again as well as my team over the next coming days. 

While a little unconventional it all began during a college break when I decided to build a cedar strip canoe. That project, while it was challenging, sparked a fascinating interest in woodworking. I entered the workforce as a journalist but kept being called back to carpentry and woodworking. 

Eventually, I traded my notepad for a toolbelt. Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of crafting custom furniture, millwork, and cabinetry for a wide variety of homes and spaces. Working for a renovation contractor deepened my hands-on experience in everything from framing and demo to precision trim carpentry and day-to-day operations. Looking back, I’m deeply grateful for the mentors who shared their knowledge, the lessons I’ve learned along the way, and every client who has trusted me to bring their vision to life.  

Today, I am not on the tools as much, if at all. My focus is on building a business that renovates homes and commercial spaces to the highest standard while changing what people expect from a renovation contractor. My goal is for clients to trust us, for subcontractors to want to work with us and for my employees to be proud to represent Live Timber. 

I am happiest spending time with my family and enjoying the incredible opportunities here in Kamloops to enjoy the outdoors. We love to ski, bike, hike, fish and camp. And when we can we love to travel for the experience of new cultures, food and one of my favorite ocean hobbies, surfing. My wife Nicole and two kids have been such an incredible support system for me along the way. This has not always been the easiest journey but it has been incredibly rewarding.

A bathroom renovation relies on how different materials, textures, and layouts work together to change how a space functions for your daily routine. Here is a look at two different design approaches from our recent projects in Kamloops, each balancing clean layout choices with distinct wood and hardware combinations:

Sleek white cabinetry paired with matte black hardware. Crisp white subway tile and matching white quartz countertops create a bright canvas, balanced by the warmth of natural oak floating corner shelves.

Light oak tones paired with large-format marble tile. Combining a natural wood vanity with prominent veined marble wall tiles gives a modern walk-in shower a grounded, premium feel.

True craftsmanship always comes down to the details you might not notice at first glance—like perfectly aligned grout lines, precise tile layout, and clean transitions where completely different materials meet. When a project is planned correctly up front, the finished space feels cohesive, durable, and exactly like a place you want to come back to at the end of the day.

Upgrading a fireplace is one of the most effective ways to change how a living room feels.

For this project, the goal was to keep the design clean and modern while adding distinct texture. We paired a crisp white mantel surround with a subtle herringbone tile face to frame the fireplace.

The pattern adds visual interest without overwhelming the room, creating a balanced focal point for the main floor. It is an example of focusing on the finer details to turn a basic living room into a space you genuinely want to come back to at the end of the day.

Commercial spaces should feel just as intentional and well-crafted as a residential home.For this Kamloops tenant improvement project, the focus was on balancing durability with clean, modern design. We paired dark vertical wood paneling with an integrated, custom-built bench seat that maximizes the layout under the windows. When people walk into a commercial space, the details matter. Clear sightlines, crisp trim work around the windows, and sturdy built-in furniture change how clients and employees experience the room every day. We believe every hour spent on site should deliver real, lasting value to the build.

What does your ideal home retreat look like?
When we talk about craftsmanship, we mean the hidden details just as much as the visible ones. On this custom sauna build, that meant tight tolerances on every single cedar slat, perfectly concealed fasteners, and seamless transitions between the wood framing and the stone tile floor.

Building a space like this isn't about slapping up tongue-and-groove boards. It is about understanding how materials handle heat, how the air circulates, and how the lighting makes you feel when you step inside.

Our homes should be places we look forward to coming back to at the end of the day. Sometimes, achieving that means looking past a standard bathroom or closet layout and building something dedicated entirely to slowing down.
