Dominique is also one of the many dedicated team members who support our Community Reach program. Through Community Reach, people with varied disabilities visit City of Kamloops staff meetings and School District 73 classrooms — from Grade 1 all the way to Grade 12 — sharing their lived experience with disability in a positive, engaging question-and-answer format. It’s a powerful way for our community, young and old, to learn directly from those with lived experience and build a more accessible, understanding Kamloops.

From client, to volunteer, to valued staff member and community educator — Dominique’s story is a beautiful example of what People in Motion is all about: building a community where everyone can go everywhere, and where everyone belongs.

Back to School 📚 is almost here


The shelves are stocked and the flyers are out for back to school shopping! We are looking forward to getting back into our scheduled programs and life skills classes.

It’s incredibly important for us all to learn and feel independence. Sometimes we may not have as much as we would like but learning life skills it’s important at any age or experience level.

Let’s challenge ourselves to educate others on inclusion, diversity and how we are all going through challenges! Be kind always and remember to learn something new it’s never too late and never a waste.

For all of our community members whom are planning an adventure or to get outside this long weekend, PLEASE REMEMBER to drink lots of water, where a hat and access the smoke risk!

It’s been a challenging summer with bouts of severe smoke from surrounding fires! Make sure to take care of yourself and support others during this time.

Meet our Staff Highlight ✨

Debora DeLyzer has led People In Motion — a nonprofit serving the community for 37 years — as Executive Director for the past seven, writing grants and driving fundraising and donations from people in the community to power 10-12 programs for people living with disabilities.

A self-advocate at heart, she champions accessibility and inclusion for all, including through the disabled parking permit program, and is especially passionate about Memories in Motion, a transportation program building a community where everyone can go everywhere.

We are truly grateful for her leadership, passion and dedication to this community and its members!!

Meet Joanne!

She’s often the first friendly face you see when you walk in for our disabled parking permit program, and she supports admin duties across the other programs and services we offer to members with disabilities in our community.

When members arrive, Joanne is often the first person they want to say hello to — she’s such a welcome addition to our team. Our members love her to the moon and back, and honestly, so do we. 💙
