AI won’t replace people. But it can remove the barriers that stop them from doing their best work.
Most companies want the same things:
Productive teams
Healthy, engaged employees
Innovation and growth
The problem? Many workplaces still see “accommodation” as a special process for a few people, instead of building systems that work for everyone.
That’s where AI + universal design comes in.
When AI tools—like real-time captions, meeting summaries, adaptive learning platforms, or workload management systems—are built into everyday workflows, they:
✅ Reduce stigma (no one has to ask for special tools)
✅ Boost productivity and retention
✅ Expand the talent pool
✅ Support wellness and work-life balance
But here’s the catch:
AI should never replace the human layer—especially in hiring.
Applicant tracking systems that rely only on algorithms can filter out amazing candidates with transferable skills or unconventional career paths.
Potential, adaptability, and cultural fit? An algorithm can’t see those.
The future of work is clear:
Use AI to include, not exclude.
Design tools that make it easier for everyone to contribute.
Keep human judgment at the centre.
That’s how we build workplaces where people stay, grow, and thrive—good for employees, good for business, and good for society.
💬 Question for you:
Where do you see the biggest opportunity for AI to make your workplace more inclusive and productive?

Ok, soooo I've been a bit nervous to share what I've been up to as far as starting my own consulting company. It's scary because sometimes I feel like I don't know how to explain what I do. But, today my company was officially incorporated and I'm excited that I've made it this far so I'm going to do my best to describe it in a nutshell. (PS - It's called 4th House because 3 generations ago my grandfather had 8 wives and my lineage comes from the 4th wife therefore I am from the 4th house. You can read more about it at https://4thhouseconsulting.ca/about-2/)
Essentially, I help businesses with knowing how to support people with mental or physical health conditions effectively do their jobs. AND, I help individuals/groups understand how to determine what they need to do their jobs and how to ask for it. Everything I do is on a case-by-case basis and with the intention of finding common ground between those asking for help and those providing it. And most importantly it's PRACTICAL.
I recently did an accessibility training session for UVic staff and reviewed equity policy for the Kamloops Art Council as a bona fide consultant and trainer! So, here's all my social media info if you want to check out what I'm doing AND please tell people that you think might need my help!
I'm still working on content, but do stay tuned for my sense of humour and tips on things like ADHD, mental health, workplace health and wellness, accessibility and all things career.
