June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada—a time to celebrate the vibrant cultures, languages, and traditions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

This month, we honour the strength, resilience, and creativity of Indigenous communities, recognizing the countless contributions that continue to shape and enrich Canada. From art and storytelling to leadership and innovation, Indigenous Peoples’ achievements inspire and strengthen us all.

National Indigenous Peoples Day, on June 21, is a moment to listen, learn, and reflect on the rich histories and living cultures of Indigenous Peoples, while fostering connections rooted in respect, understanding, and shared hope for a future guided by truth and reconciliation.

This event will be taking place at the Robson Park on the 11th of June from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.

World Day for Cultural Diversity

Observed on May 21, this day celebrates the richness of cultures and the importance of diversity in building strong, inclusive communities. Around the world, people come together through music, art, storytelling, and traditional foods to learn from one another and celebrate different cultures.

Today is a reminder to embrace our differences, foster understanding, and continue creating spaces where everyone feels respected, valued, and connected.

Red Dress Day

Observed on May 5, Red Dress Day honours Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people. Red dresses displayed in public spaces symbolize the lives lost and the loved ones who are deeply missed.

Across communities, people gather for ceremonies, walks, and sharing circles to raise awareness, support healing, and call for justice and safety for Indigenous peoples.

Today, we remember, reflect, and stand together in support of Indigenous communities.

Celebrated each May in Canada, Polish Heritage Month honours the traditions, history, and contributions of Polish Canadians. Communities come together through music, folk dancing, storytelling, and delicious traditional foods like pierogi and kielbasa to celebrate Polish culture.

This month highlights the pride, resilience, and rich heritage of Polish communities and their role in shaping Canada’s diverse and vibrant society.

May is Sexual Violence Prevention Month in Alberta.

It's meant to raise awareness about sexual violence, support survivors, and promote education, prevention, and consent.

This month reminds us of the importance of creating safe, respectful spaces and supporting one another through compassion, understanding, and advocacy. Together, we can help build safer communities for everyone.
