In honour of the new year, a 2023 recap! This has been such an amazing year from starting my last year of high school, expanding my business, and most of all winning Youth Entrepreneur of the Year! It has been so amazing doing all these markets and exploring more of what I can create for people.
That being said, a few changes are coming.
I’d love to be able to say that there is so much more in store for River Craft in 2024 but unfortunately, there isn’t. As I’m applying for universities and gearing up to leave Invermere, I am cutting way back on markets. I won’t be gone forever, but as I enter this new chapter I won’t be able to give River Craft as much attention as I have these past few years. River Craft is still my passion and is definitely not shutting down, this just means you might not see me at all the usual markets. In the new year I am going to focus on making things for local shops such as Black Star and working on custom orders. As much as I will miss my community, I am excited to take River Craft to a new one! I’m turning 18 in exactly 16 days and will start hearing from schools in the spring. I’m going to update everyone more about my life as everyone here has become a family to me. I am so grateful, nervous, and excited to be starting 2024, it will be like no other.

Thank you all for a great 23’ market season! You can catch me at some fall and winter markets this coming season and as always custom orders are always welcome!

I posted this on my story but thought maybe I should post on my feed with a little write up of what this means to me. 2020 was a scary time for 14 year old me, so much anxiety and uncertainty. I found refuge in creating. It started with painting little postcards, then making earrings out of clay, then sewing hats, and so on. Creating kept me happy and calm at a time I was so afraid.
Jump to my first market in front of the Legion, one sad little table full of my very clearly homemade knick knacks. I wasn’t expecting much until someone bought something, and then something else, then I was getting asked to make customs and for business cards. It was time to step up my game.
Jump forward again to today. Other than school, River Craft is what I do and who I am. I’m creating new things day after day for markets, connecting with my amazing community, and being nominated for awards?! Im now in my last year of high school, starting to think about universities I could not be more grateful for what I have learned and accomplished through River Craft.
In case I haven’t mentioned it, THANK YOU! None of this would’ve happened without YOU, all of you that come to the markets, like my posts, show me you wearing my creations, and everything in between. Thank you 💙
