June 19, 2026, marked a proud milestone for South Simcoe Police Service as three of our recruits, Alex Pinheiro, Charles Fuhr and Ethan Mulder graduated from the Ontario Police College in Aylmer.
Surrounded by family, friends, supporters, and members of the service, the graduates celebrated the successful completion of an important milestone in their training. The day was filled with pride and excitement having successfully accomplished another step toward becoming police officers.
Graduating from the Ontario Police College reflects months of dedication, perseverance, and hard work. While this achievement is worth celebrating, it also marks the beginning of the next phase of their journey. Our recruits will now continue their training and development with the South Simcoe Police Service training unit, building the skills, judgment, and critical-thinking abilities essential for effective policing. Upon successfully completing the next phase of training, they will be sworn in later this July and begin their careers as South Simcoe Police Constables.
We are incredibly proud of our newest recruits and all they have accomplished. We look forward to seeing them continue to grow and make a positive difference in the communities we serve.

The members of the South Simcoe Police Service are deeply saddened by the tragic events in Montréal that claimed the life of a Service de police de la Ville de Montréal - SPVM officer, seriously injured another officer, and resulted in the loss of a civilian. Our thoughts are also with the Peel Regional Police officer who was recently shot in Mississauga, the two Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers seriously injured in Melville, Saskatchewan, and the families, friends, and colleagues of the Toronto Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police officers recently lost in the line of duty.
Our hearts are with our policing family across Canada as they navigate these difficult days of loss, injury, and healing.
These heartbreaking incidents are a sobering reminder of the risks police officers face every day while serving and protecting their communities. Behind every badge is a person, a family, and loved ones whose lives are forever changed when tragedy strikes.
On behalf of the South Simcoe Police Service, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, colleagues, and communities grieving these losses. We honour the life, service, and sacrifice of the fallen officer, whose dedication will not be forgotten, and we wish strength, healing, and a full recovery to those who have been injured.
We stand united with our policing partners across the country during this difficult time. We honour the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of all those who serve and continue to put themselves in harm's way to protect our communities and ensure public safety.

Today, we recognize the men of our police service, both officers and civilian members, who are behind the badge, as well as those who support our frontline members, this Father’s Day.
We celebrate the fathers, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, and father figures within our police family who spend their time caring for and protecting others, and who carry that same dedication home to their loved ones.
Policing goes beyond the uniform and the hours of a shift. The commitment, compassion, and responsibility our members bring to supporting others extends into every part of their lives. Whether responding to a call, offering support, or being there for their own families, our members continue to make a difference through their dedication to care, safety, and service. Whether you’re spending today with family, working a shift, or being celebrated by the people who love you most, we hope you know how appreciated you are.
To the men of the South Simcoe Police Service, and to all the dads and father figures in our communities, Happy Father’s Day. 💙

Pedaling Into Trouble: Wanted Man Cycles Into View During SSPS Bike Rodeo Event. Three Arrests, Two Stolen Bicycles Recovered in Bradford - media release here: https://southsimcoepolice.on.ca/media-releases/pedaling-into-trouble-wanted-man-cycles-into-view-during-ssps-bike-rodeo-event/
On June 18, 2026, South Simcoe Police received a report of a bicycle that was stolen earlier that morning. Later that day, Police received another call that a bicycle reported stolen earlier in the week had been seen with a person riding it in the Holland Street West area in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
At approximately 3:40 p.m., officers on proactive patrol on Holland Street East located a male riding a bicycle matching the description of the one stolen earlier that morning. As a result, a 53-year-old Brampton man was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 16, 2026.
While officers were arresting the first individual, a second male rode past on another bicycle that had been reported stolen earlier in the week. As a result, a 55-year-old male with no fixed address was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 10, 2026.
Both recovered bicycles were returned to their grateful owners. One of the victims was a young teen who had saved money to purchase and accessorize the bicycle.
Later that same day, at approximately 5:00 p.m., another bicycle stop occurred further on Holland Street West. In a twist of irony, officers were in the area during the South Simcoe Police Service's annual Bike Rodeo event at Canadian Tire in Bradford when they observed a male riding a bicycle through the parking lot carrying a large duffel bag. Officers recognized the individual as matching the description of a suspect wanted on outstanding arrest warrants held by York Regional Police and the North Bay Police Service. As a result, a 58-year-old Bradford man was arrested on the strength of those warrants.
In the span of just two hours, proactive patrols resulted in three arrests, two stolen bicycles recovered, and property returned to its rightful owners.
