Hamilton Police Retirees Association

The ongoing work being done at the Hamilton Police Service Museum in Ancaster continues. Many hours of volunteer time has resulted in capturing over thousands of documents, negatives and photos scanned for the museum in the ongoing effort to capture and identify every officer who has served for future retrieval.

Also significant was our participation in the display of the 1966 Studebaker Cruiser and the Bomb Truck at various fairs, festivals and car shows. We have added a renewed horse drawn Patrol Wagon to our historic vehicles.

The Retirees also participated at the Toronto Police Memorial, Ottawa Police Memorial and Veteran Garisson parade held in Hamilton for Remembrance Day. We thank those retirees that attended and participated with the Hamilton Police Service contingent.

We now have Tuck Shop product displays at several sub-stations. Our main Tuck Shop is at Central Station on the second floor outside the lunch room, open Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The Tuck Shop is Chaired by Dave Bowen and assisted by Retirees Mike Favelle, Dave Bowen, Steve Binch, Maggie Pepe-Hutton and Sandy Muir at Central Station.

Our retirees continue to volunteer hundreds of hours operating the Tuck Shop at Central and at events such as the Police Picnic, Golf Tournament, HPA functions, etc. New sale items with the Hamilton Police logos are added regularly, including an expansion of our ladies wear line and stuffed animals for the little ones. You should check them out.

We continue to attend the archive section of the Hamilton Library to continue to copy, scan, and photograph all the inventory, related to the Hamilton Police Service, they hold in their archives.

We will continue to serve as ambassadors of the Hamilton Police Service to the community and help anyway we can to display the rich history and heritage of one great Police Service we once served as working members.
