Falcon Liftoff! πŸš€

This morning both male chicks, Dalewood and Vincent, took their first flights from the nest ledge in downtown Hamilton. Both had strong flights and landed successfully on a nearby building. The female chicks, Corktown and Saltfleet, are larger and weigh more than the males, so they typically need extra time to strengthen their flight muscles.

Falconwatch needs volunteers to assist with tracking the fledglings during their first days of flights. If you're interested in volunteering, reach out to [email protected]

Join us this Saturday for a guided nature walk at Windermere Basin! 🐦🌳🐟

Located on the east side of Hamilton Harbour, Windermere Basin is a hidden gem worth adding to your list. Maybe you’ve wandered through Cootes Paradise or soaked up the views at Bayfront Park β€” but have you been here yet? Now’s your chance! ✨

This area is a vital habitat for local birds and fish, and a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we invest in rehabilitation and restoration of our ecosystems. πŸ’š

We’ll be joined by Peter Langballe from the Hamilton Naturalists' Club who will be sharing his knowledge of the area and the incredible species that call it home. 🌾

The best part? It’s free β€” just make sure to register in advance to secure your spot!
