We're excited to announce pur next community art show to be held this October at RELAY: King William!!

The theme is HOUSE PLANT and we're looking to build a show with artworks from community members around this theme. You can be a beginner or a seasoned artist and your work can be in any medium as long as it's not too big and is "hangable" on our walls.

Here are some details:
~ The RELAY community art show, with the theme "coffee cup" will be held from Oct. 9th - Nov. 11th, 2026

~ Please send all submissions to [email protected] with the subject line "HOUSE PLANT Art Submission".

~ Up to 3 pieces of art may be submitted for consideration per artist.

~ Only folks with an artwork accepted for the show will be contacted.

~ We are interested in any medium and style, though the art must be able to be hung on our wall.

~ Artwork may not exceed 24" x 36". Please include measurements for your art within your submission.

~ Artists are responsible to ensure all work has a sturdy backing and is easy to hang.

~ artwork may be listed for sale and is the artists' responsibility to facilitate.

~ RELAY is not responsible for any damages or loss to the artworks accepted for the show as it is a café environment and not a gallery and thus there are inherent risks to showing your work on our walls.

We're hiring a barista for a front of house position at RELAY: King William!

➡️ A position at RELAY requires the following:

- OPEN or EXCELLENT AVAILABILITY immediately & into the fall. Seeking coverage for 2 - 3 shifts per week. Weekday and weekday evenings are a necessity.

- must have barista/front of house/hospitality experience

- regarding availability - shifts are scheduled between 6 am - 11 pm seven days a week (minus Sunday evenings)

- cheerful & energetic personality - thrives in a fast paced environment

- ability to multi-task; calm & efficient

- great work ethic; ability to work under pressure; good time management when the pace slows down.

- warm personality and a desire to connect with our team & cafe community

- integrity around team building (we have a zero gossip/talking behind other employees backs policy)

- organized, takes initiative, very clean

- committed to the vision of making people's day better for having visited RELAY

- please include the words "autumn vibes" in your email

If you already have your Food Handlers Certification this is an asset.

➡️ A position in our kitchen at RELAY requires the following:

- cheerful & energetic, thrives in a fast paced environment

- excellent baking skills; ability to multi-task; efficiency in the kitchen

- food preparation experience: our menu consists of baked items, waffles, sandwiches, dips, and other delicious things

- excellent availability - shifts are scheduled between 6 am - 11 pm seven days a week (minus Sunday evenings)

- great work ethic; ability to work under pressure; good time management when the pace slows down.

- warm personality and a desire to connect with our team & cafe community

- integrity around team building (we have a zero gossip/talking behind other employees backs policy)

- organized, efficient, very clean and thorough

- committed to the vision of making people's day better for having visited RELAY

If you also enjoy coffee and have transferable skills for front of house/barista, this could be a asset

Last night Jason & I were honoured to receive a Hamilton BIA Award of Excellence for Business and Community Partnership.

We feel grateful to have spent the evening with so many Hamilton entrepreneurs and business owners - good people who genuinely make our city better.

Community is why we do it. Partnering with and, over the years, so many other organizations & events within the city, and building beautiful spaces that enhance community life is core to who we are at RELAY.

Jason & I may be the owners of RELAY, but we are by no means running things solo. For 15+ years there have been incredible employees who have given us their time, energy, and love for people, to build RELAY into what it is. We are deeply thankful for everyone, past & present, who share our vision and who make our city better, one interaction at a time.

Thank you to the City of Hamilton and to all the people who have supported and encouraged us. From the people buying our beans all the way back in 2008, to our new fans who met us through Heated Rivalry, to family & friends who loaned us funds and encouraged us on hard days, to every single person who has stopped by for a coffee and said "thank you" to their barista.
