Clay • Mixed Media • Textiles • Digital Making
Creative studio programs for Ages 4–7 • 8+ • Teens
July 6 – August 28
+CREATE is a year-round studio.
In summer, it opens up.
More time.
More light.
More room for ideas to unfold at their own pace.
Each week stands on its own,
while gently building on what came before.
The studio doesn’t pause in summer.
It stretches.
Work doesn’t reset — it evolves.
Nothing is rushed.
Nothing is forced.
Everything is allowed to grow.
For teens: long-form projects, studio habits,
portfolio-focused thinking.

We recently hosted students from for a full day immersion in both our clay and mixed media studios. Over the course of the day students explored diverse, alternative and upcycled materials in our mixed media studio to arrive at sculptural forms that investigated composition, texture, colour and materiality. The second part of the day was spent in our clay studio learning to work on the wheel and experiencing what it is to build form from from organic matter whose origin is the earth. The end of the day culminated in discussion, comparing and contrasting the two very different experiences.
This day was a full circle experience for one of our facilitators Natasja Bischoff as she was a graduate of Glendale S.S. and a recipient of the Visual Arts Award.

Dates: Sundays, January 11 – March 1, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
Location: +CREATE 121, The Cotton Factory, 270 Sherman Ave N, Hamilton, Ontario
Facilitator: Reid Flock
Format: 8-week course
Pricing: $375 · Full 8-week session · All materials included
Description
These early Sunday sessions are designed for those who carry their curiosity into the morning — early risers, reflective makers, and anyone seeking to begin their week with quiet focus and clay on their hands.
Working through foundational clay processes — wheel throwing, slab construction, coil building, pinch forming, and casting — participants are guided through technique while being encouraged to follow instinct, question process, and explore material with intention. Instruction unfolds through conversation, demonstration, and shared discovery rather than rigid steps.
This class invites a slower, attentive way of working — building skill, patience, and personal language in clay. Whether you’re starting fresh or deepening an existing practice, these mornings offer a steady rhythm for hands, mind, and material to meet.
