Here are a few tips...pick an updated colour, a great paint finish, paint out those white plastic window frames, and most importantly, hire excellent, friendly painters! 😉 Our clients' were thinking of ordering custom doors but have a lot on their plate with other renos so opted for a paint job for the time being. They are so thrilled with the outcome that they are now removing new garage doors from their reno list!!

This was one of the most satisfying fireplace make-overs we ever did! Our clients had the whole house freshly painted by us before they moved in, but weren't crazy about the dated look of the fireplace....and we agreed, so we fixed it! :)

We don't always do residential jobs! Here are some before/afters we just finished in an office at McMaster University. In a weekend and a few late nights, we transformed the heavy, dark trim to light and bright...and added a fun accent wall. Some deck care advice from our friends at Cedar Ridge Carpentry! :) Spring is just around the corner!

Spring is just around the corner, and it's time to get your wood deck ready for the summer! With the particularly harsh weather we've had this season, you'll want to examine your deck for any signs of rot before you start to clean. Pay close attention to where it joins the house, any staircases, and areas where water, snow and ice may have caused damage.

Wood Deck Spring Cleaning Tips:

First sweep and clear your deck. Careful not to forget to clean between the deck boards as well. Leaves, twigs, and other debris can leave unsightly stains if left too long. While you're at it, take care of any trees, shrubs, or other vegetation that have grown too close to your deck.

Now it's time to clean the surface. We suggest skipping the pressure washer for a typical garden hose, as pressure washers may damage the wood. You'll want to use a solution of oxygen bleach to clean your wood deck, as chlorine bleach is highly toxic to plants, and can accelerate corrosion of nails, etc.

Proper deck maintenance also means carefully inspecting for loose or cracked boards, wobbly railings or popped nails. Get these safety hazards repaired by a professional before you host your first outdoor BBQ of the season!
