Here's the description of our coat of arms.
The loaf of bread represents our mission to feed the poor and our motto of whistles are fed the Coronet in which it sits represents United Empire loyalists whose help spread methodism in upper Canada.
The Shield is divided in a St Andrews cross reminiscent of the United Church Crest and the images contained in the quadrants the lyre represents our music Ministry, the man at the cross represents Saint dismas the good thief and our commitment to the dismissed fellowship and the outcast. The two buildings represent first Methodist Church and Pilgrim congregational are our immediate predecessor congregations.
The supporters, the lamb holding St George's pennant represents Christ and his victory over death. The cat represents wandering and homelessness as well as our community at the table fellowship aka the cat program.
The floral emblems on the base are as follows blue corn flower for Germany, maple leaves for canada, and poppies for our veterans.
The motto let us build a house is taken from the title of More Voices number 1. It Speaks to our ministry of building housing and our attitude that all are welcome in this place.

First-Pilgrim Memories...Shirley Wilkinson
So many memories in the 60 plus years I’ve been a member of First Pilgrim Church but the one that started me on this journey has to be the day I walked down the aisle to marry Roger Wilkinson in June, 1963. It was a hot sticky day…30 degrees C but I hardly noticed. I guess I was on cloud 9.
Roger’s mother’s family were long-time members and I joined shortly after our wedding. I’ve had a love-affair with the congregation ever since. They became family; nurturing me in good times and bad. Fortunately, mostly good.
