HCF is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Juliet Daniel. Dr. Daniel was a dynamic member of the HCF community, generously sharing her time, talents and leadership in many roles, including as a board member and an engaged community champion.

She was a world-renowned cancer biologist at McMaster University and was internationally recognized for her cancer research, teaching and community engagement. She was passionate about many issues- like youth and STEM education, climate change, social justice and gender issues.

Her community work spanned many different organizations across Hamilton, including Black Aspiring Physicians of McMaster, Philpott Church, the African Caribbean Canadian Potpourri’s annual youth scholarships, the National Let’s Talk Science Program and The Olive Branch of Hope.

We are grateful to have worked alongside her and to have learned from her deep commitment to community health, well-being and belonging.

We extend our sincere condolences to her loved ones, colleagues and the many community members whose lives she touched. https://ow.ly/L3lL50YVgx6
