What we want for our participants is the same thing everyone wants for their own children: to be safe

The Wever Community Hub provides a welcoming and supportive gathering space for all Wever residents and serves as an access point for a wide range of community programs, activities, events and services. It is formed by Norman 'Pinky' Lewis Recreation Centre together with nearby Cathy Wever Elementary School. The Hub is a nerve-centre that connects Wever children, youth and families with each other and with the City community around them.

Rotary Club of Hamilton to Lead CHML Children’s Fund, Christmas Tree of Hope, and Operation Santa Claus

Hamilton, ON – The Rotary Club of Hamilton is proud to announce that it will be taking over the stewardship of three beloved community initiatives: the CHML Children’s Fund, the Christmas Tree of Hope, and Operation Santa Claus. These programs, which have collectively raised more than $6 million since 1976 to support children and families in need, will continue to serve the Hamilton community under Rotary’s leadership. Since 1976, the CHML Children’s Fund and Christmas Tree of Hope have been vital sources of support for local charities, providing much-needed funds during the holiday season and beyond. Operation Santa Claus has furthered this mission by collecting toys and donations to ensure that every child in Hamilton experiences the joy of the holiday season.

President-elect Adam Oldfield of the Rotary Club of Hamilton, who has a long history with the CHML Christmas Tree of Hope, expressed his enthusiasm for this new chapter: “Many years ago, when I started in radio, I had the opportunity to work with the CHML Christmas Tree of Hope, including Blitz Day and raising funds throughout the winter. It was a great honour, and it will be once again an opportunity to step back into the shoes of raising awareness in our community and money for our local charities right here in our backyard.” The Rotary Club of Hamilton, founded in 1913, has a storied history of community service. By integrating these cherished initiatives into their portfolio, Rotary aims to continue and expand upon the legacy of generosity and support that has been built over nearly half a century.

President Laura Farr of the Rotary Club of Hamilton noted, “This is just another example of how the Rotary Club of Hamilton continues to give in our community, embodying our motto of ‘Service Above Self.’ As we develop and grow, we will be working with our media partners to raise awareness and encourage donations. We are committed to ensuring that the Rotary CHML Children’s Fund, Christmas Tree of Hope, and Operation Santa Claus remain pillars of support for the children in our community.”

The Rotary Club’s plans include maintaining beloved traditions like the Christmas Tree of Hope lighting ceremony in downtown Hamilton, as well as continuing fundraising efforts through Operation Santa Claus. The Rotary club will also work closely with media partners to ensure that the community remains informed and engaged, providing numerous opportunities to contribute to these vital causes.

Dear Rotarian Friends,

As the clock ticks down to bid farewell to another chapter, let's take a moment to reflect on the tapestry of shared moments, service, and fellowship that defined our Rotary journey in the past year.

Embrace the Lessons, Cherish the Memories: In the tapestry of Rotary service, each thread represents a lesson learned, a challenge overcome, and a joy shared. Let's carry the wisdom of 2023 forward and celebrate the resilience that defines us as Rotarians.

Global Unity in Local Acts: No matter where you are in the world, the spirit of Rotary binds us together. Whether through community projects, international collaborations, or the unwavering support we provide, each Rotarian contributes to a tapestry that weaves its way around the globe.

To New Friendships and Enduring Bonds: Let's raise our glasses to the friendships forged, the hands held, and the shoulders leaned on. In Rotary, we don't just find colleagues; we find family. Here's to the connections that make our Rotary journey a truly extraordinary adventure.

A Fresh Page Awaits: As we step into a new year, let's approach it with open hearts and eager spirits. The unwritten chapters of 2024 hold the promise of new opportunities, projects, and milestones. Together, let's script a narrative of service, kindness, and impact.

Countdown to More Service, More Smiles: The ticking of the clock heralds not just the end of a year but the beginning of another chapter of service. Each second brings us closer to more lives touched, more communities uplifted, and more positive change created by the hands of Rotary.

A Toast to You, Rotarian Pioneers: Here's to each one of you – the architects of positive change, the champions of service, and the heartbeats of Rotary. Your dedication and passion illuminate the path to a brighter, more compassionate world.
