My kids staying up to watch a storm roll in over Lake Huron. This is done in Sailor Manyo ink which separates into cornflower blue, pink and aqua as it dries and working with it was so beautiful to watch. Truly a pleasure to do this one. Ink is amazing.

I painted at Gage park yesterday, the smoke from the wildfires in Québec made the sky and lighting very unique and glowing, I tried to capture that. Gouache on watercolour paper in my landscape sketchbook.

A sketch of this daffodil in my botanical sketchbook! Once I brought them outside the daffodil looked a touch more yellow, but they were pretty close in my lighting setup.

Two magnolia trees! Lots of people stopping to say hi today as the cherry blossoms are blooming right near here.

I finished my painting of the Ruth Bancroft Garden that I began in California and finished over the last month and a half! For something that’s a smidge bigger than 5 x 7 that’s a lot of time (although I didn’t work on it constantly).

I had a wonderful time at the Elora Plein Air Festival this weekend. I was surprised and honoured to receive an award for best architectural painting for this little alleyway! it charmed me when I walked by but I did wonder partway through if I was nuts to choose it! Ha! I also had a different painting sell to a wonderful couple. The whole weekend was great food, catching up with new and old artist pals, and just spending time in beautiful locations doing my favourite activity - it can’t get better than that!
