It was a beautiful weekend for a pow wow. Yesterday, my oldest son and I stopped by the weekend-long Soaring Spirit Festival & Pow Wow in Stoney Creek’s Battlefield Park. We had fun checking out the different booths - especially Turtle's Back Publishing’s booth, where I had a great conversation with author and former lacrosse goaltender Brennor Jacobs - about his book, local native languages and the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Do check out his book “Akhwatsirehkó:wa – My Big Family.”

The 2026 Hamilton Shaheedi Nagar Kirtan (Sikh Martyrdom Parade) took place at Hamilton City Hall today. My boys and I stopped by, learned more about the martyrs of the Sikh Panth, enjoyed Langar, and enjoyed many good conversations. Thank you to the local Sikh community for the warm welcome and a lovely afternoon.

Downtown Stoney Creek Strawberry Fest is always a good time and one of the summer highlights in the Creek. I came home with some fresh strawberries and snap peas. Yum 🤤!

Great afternoon of canvassing on the plateau - in Stoney Creek. Loads of good conversations with Creekers about affordability, housing, commuting, wishes for elected officials to be more present, and an eagerness for a change in government at Queen’s Park.

Sunday night, the Pakistan Canada Business Organization invited an array of community leaders to celebrate the inaugural Hamilton Mango Party.

The party was about more than food. It was about community, sharing traditions, and celebrating the rich diversity that makes Hamilton and Canada such wonderful places to live. In a world that seems increasingly divided, I welcome this initiative and wish PCBO all the best in growing their annual Hamilton Mango Party to become a bigger and broader community celebration.

It was a grey and dull Sunday across Hamilton, but inside Halls 3 and 4 at the Binbrook Fairgrounds it was all colour and good times. Lovely Sunday morning at Binbrook Pride today. Thanks to the organizers, performers, community leaders, and everyone else that came out to make it a fun celebration of love and freedom ❤️✌🏻🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month!!
